๐Ÿ’š Stay Connected with What's Happening Locally ๐Ÿ’š

Looking for local activities, community groups, or events in the area? Each month, we produce a bulletin highlighting a range of opportunities to help you stay active, connected, and involved in your community.

Printed copies are available in our surgery waiting room for patients to pick up.

If you would prefer though to receive the bulletin by email each month, simply send an email to [email protected] for the attention of Kelly, one of our Social Prescribers, and she will be happy to add you to the mailing list.

Walking is a free way to build more movement into our lives, and can be done anywhere. It improves health and helps us feel connected to our community, and less lonely and isolated.

Why not make a start and join our Walking Group on a Wednesday? Please see the walking programme for June 2026 below.

If you know of someone who would be interested but doesn't have access to the internet and would like a printout of the programme, please let Reception know.

This Men's Health Week (15-21 June), LiveWell Dorset's Steve challenges the traditional ideas of masculinity and how they impact menโ€™s health.

Many men grow up with messages that discourage showing vulnerability or asking for help, which can lead them to delay or even avoid, taking action over their health.

This contributes to serious issues, including lower life expectancy and higher su***de rates among men.

Thankfully, attitudes are beginning to change, with more men embracing openness.

Many of us socialise more in the summer and often that involves eating. If you are trying to eat healthily or carefully, this can be challenging. But life is made for living and spending time doing things that give you pleasure. Instead of avoiding โ€˜trickyโ€™ food in these situations, just be mindful of your portion sizes.

This simple guide from LiveWell Dorset will help you keep meals in balance while still enjoying your favourite flavours ๐Ÿ‘‰https://www.livewelldorset.co.uk/articles/measuring-portion-sizes

By January 2027, every traditional landline in the UK will move to a broadband-based phone service. For most households, the transition will be straightforward.

But if your parent uses a pendant alarm or any kind of telecare device, there is one thing that catches people out: two separate calls need to happen before the switch, and most people only make one.

Carent's have written a guide to what the switchover means for your parent's setup, what BT offers for households with additional needs, and who to call.
