Where did the hour go?
Why time feels so different during A Velvet Touch treatment.
You know that feeling:
You lie down.. and before you know it, the
session is over.
An hour feels like 10 minutes - or
sometimes the other way around.
What's really happening?
Our sense of time isn't fixed. It's shaped by
our nervous system.
Nhen stressed, our brain is constantly
scanning, worrying, replaying
Time drags, heavy and slow.
But deep relaxation switches us into the
ventral vagal state - true safety and rest.
Threat detection stands down. The mind
stops racing.
Time shifts, because your brain finally gets
permission to just be.
This activates the brain's default mode
network - the state we drift into when
daydreaming or resting deeply.
The world fades, and time loses its usual
pull.
Clients often say:
"I can't believe that was an hour!
"I feel like I've slept for days!"
They haven't lost time -- their nervous
system finally found the rest it rarely gets
Touch has soothed and healed for
centuries. Science is only now catching up
with what we've always known: safe,
intentional touch reaches parts of us words
never can.
Treat yourself to this feeling.
