Responsibility for the abuse belongs to the abuser. Responsibility for healing belongs to no one,but therapy can help you reclaim your life.

Survivors are never responsible for the abuse they experienced. Trauma-informed therapy doesn’t assign blame,it creates safety, validates the person’s experience, and helps them develop skills that support recovery, boundaries and autonomy. Healing is about regaining choice, not accepting responsibility for someone else’s behaviour.

Neurotypical video call:

“Hi! How are you?” 😊

Smooth introduction. Clear conversation. Waiting patiently for their turn to speak. Following the discussion from start to finish.

Neurodivergent video call:

“Wait, where’s my notebook?” 😅

Adjusting clothing. Fixing hair. Fidgeting. Trying to remember what was discussed. Missing part of the conversation while concentrating on not interrupting. Needing pauses to process information. Asking for an email afterwards because working memory decided to take the day off.

Of course, not every neurodivergent person experiences this, but many can relate to the extra mental effort that video calls can require. Sometimes what looks like distraction is actually processing, regulating, remembering, and trying to keep up with multiple streams of information at once.

Anyone else need the follow-up email? 📧💭

Looking after your mental health doesn’t always have to mean doing more. Sometimes it starts with simply moving your body or making something with your hands 💃🏻🎨

Whether it’s a walk in nature, stretching, gardening, painting, crocheting, photography or any hobby that brings you joy, these activities can help calm the nervous system, reduce stress, improve mood and gently shift your focus away from overwhelm. They also give your brain a chance to rest, process emotions and build confidence through small moments of achievement 🏆

You don’t have to be an expert. You don’t have to be productive. Just start where you are, take one small step, and let movement and creativity become part of your self care ❤️

Neurotypicals in summer: “What a beautiful sunny day!” ☀️

Neurodivergents in summer: “I can’t see, can’t think and why is the shade so warm!” 😅

For many neurodivergent people, summer isn’t just about enjoying the sunshine. Increased light sensitivity, heat sensitivity, and differences in temperature regulation can make hot, bright days feel overwhelming. When the nervous system is already working hard to process sensory information, excess heat and sunlight can add another layer of overload.

That overload can make it harder to concentrate, find words, make decisions, manage emotions, or complete everyday tasks. What looks like someone being tired, distracted, or irritable may actually be their brain trying to cope with too much sensory input at once.

Different brains experience summer differently, and sometimes enjoying the sunshine comes with a side of sunglasses, shade, cooling fans, and plenty of recovery time ☀️🧠

Colouring Is Not Just for Children 🖍️

When life feels overwhelming, sometimes the simplest activities can make the biggest difference.

Colouring is not just for children. It can be a gentle way to slow down, take a break from overthinking, and focus on something calming and creative. The repetitive motion of colouring can help support mindfulness, relaxation, and emotional wellbeing, all without the pressure of creating a masterpiece.

In this post we explore how colouring may benefit mental health, simple ways to get started, and a few creative exercises you can try at home.

Sometimes a handful of pencils and a few quiet minutes are enough to help you pause, reset, and breathe 🎨✨

Quote of the day 🌿

This quote uses the image of a garden as a metaphor for life and personal growth. Just as a garden sometimes needs to be cleared, dug up, or completely redesigned before new plants can thrive, there are times in life when we need to let go of old habits, relationships, beliefs, or situations that are no longer helping us grow.

Starting over can feel difficult, messy, and uncertain, much like looking at a patch of bare soil before anything has been planted. However, the quote reminds us that meaningful change takes time, care, and patience. Even when progress is not immediately visible, growth is often happening beneath the surface. By trusting the process and continuing to nurture ourselves, we create the opportunity for something beautiful, healthy, and fulfilling to emerge in the future ❤️🌸

You’re not just colouring a picture, you’re giving your mind a place to breathe 🌿

Setting the mood, picking up the colours, and letting go of the pressure 🕯️✨
Tonight’s masterpiece isn’t just on the page,it’s the peace I’m creating within myself.
Sometimes healing looks like slowing down enough to enjoy the moment 💛

After a difficult period with my health, getting back into crafts has felt a little daunting 🫣

I made this small flower coaster for my lamp, and it reminded me that creativity does not have to be big, perfect, or finished quickly to be meaningful.

Sometimes starting again looks like one small project, one quiet moment, and one gentle step back towards something you enjoy.

✅ How to ease back into hobbies:

- Start small with a simple project.

- Choose something low pressure that does not need to be perfect.

- Use materials you already have to make it feel easier.

- Set a short time limit so it feels manageable.

- Focus on the process, not the outcome.

- Celebrate the fact you started, even if you do not finish.

Sometimes creativity comes back slowly, and that still counts.
