Good mental health isn’t rocket science. Did you know that?
When things feel flat. No motivation. Burnout. Bored. Sad. States that we have all likely felt at some point. What’s the answer? Is it going back to basics maybe?
When I worked for a charity, we used a chart that looked at school/work, diet, hydration, home life, family, friends, environment, if someone had space alone, quality of sleep, exercise.
All the things that help us to thrive and exist and live and feel supported. All important aspects of being human. All contributing factors to good mental health or poor mental health. Not rocket science but still hard to navigate at times.

Have you tried using mindfulness to calm thoughts? So many of our thoughts are negative and automatic. We can’t control when they pop into our heads but we can have awareness. We can use mindfulness to be aware, to take a closer look at the thought before we go into reaction. Before we allow this thought to run our nervous system inside out and have us running for the hills or ruminating till dawn.
Looking at the thought and using sleuth skills that poirot would be proud of. Helps us to use fact and logic and kick those negative thoughts in the butt and out of our minds allowing us to continue our day unhindered by negativity.

Keeping it real. Keeping it really honest.

By Kay DuffieldLooking back on my life I can pinpoint the exact moment when I decided to become a counsellor. I was struggling in life, I was in a period of depression and unable to see a way through it by myself, despite having support from family around me. The pain was too deep, too embedded and....
