Bolton Hospice

Bolton Hospice Providing expert care & support for the people of Bolton who have terminal and life-limiting illnesses, and their families.
(271)

We're an independent charity, and our services are free. Our team of doctors, nurses and other professional staff provide specialist care and support for local people with cancer and other life-limiting illnesses and their families, in the hospice and at home. We provide care throughout a patient’s illness, so they achieve the best possible quality of life. This includes end of life care, helping

them to achieve a good death. We're a charity mainly funded by local people. Together we need to raise around £4 million a year to continue to provide our services for free.

You might’ve seen this guy on our socials last week. Well, it turns out there’s more to the story… meet Chompie! 🐈‍⬛

Last week Chompie took a liking to Bolton Hospice, sneaking in on several occasions. Just as we thought he’d found somewhere else to inspect, we found him snuggled up in our family lounge having a cat nap!

One of our brilliant nurses managed to track down his owner and it turns out that cheeky Chompie has been on the road since June! His owner was delighted to see him.

Maybe it was the food? Maybe it was our staff? Perhaps our door was just open at a time of need - we aren’t quite sure what brought Chompie to Bolton Hospice but we’re so happy we could help get him home safely! 💜

STEPtember starts tomorrow! We asked some of our fundraisers why they’re walking🚶

“Earlier this year, our lives were turned upside down when Sam was diagnosed with MND. It’s difficult to put into words what that news has done to us as a family, but Bolton Hospice has made that incredibly difficult journey a little easier. Thank you to every single person at Bolton Hospice and the Wellbeing Hub who has supported our family. You do something incredibly special for people at some of the hardest points in their lives, and we genuinely cannot thank you enough. I want to make every one of those 300,000 steps count.” - Chris 💜

“I’m supporting Bolton Hospice in memory of my beautiful son, Conor, who sadly passed away in May. During one of the hardest times of our lives, the Hospice at Home and Wellbeing Hub gave us incredible support, kindness and reassurance. They were there for Conor, but they were also there for me - supporting me through moments when I felt completely overwhelmed. I’m proud to continue supporting them in Conor’s memory, so they can be there for other families when they need them most.” - Lindsay 💜

There’s still time to support Chris and Lindsay - join STEPtember here 👉 https://www.boltonhospice.org.uk/steptember

Meet the 10-year-old who's cycled 109 miles for Bolton Hospice 🚴

Earlier this month, 10 year old Jack, his dad and his uncle cycled from Bowness-on-Solway to Tynemouth - a four-day trip with elevations equivalent to cycling up Scafell Pike from sea level…twice!

“I really enjoyed it. Dad cycled with all the bags and Uncle Steve was in charge of navigating and looking out for potholes. We checked the Just Giving page along the way – seeing the total go up really motivated us! My friends were all tracking it at home, too.” - Jack

The trio's fundraising total is now sitting at £1795.

Can we get a well done for Jack, Mike and Steve in the comments? 👇

"My name's David, I’m 66 years old and I’ve been fighting cancer for 30 years.

I’ve had testicular, lung, bladder and kidney cancer. As strange as it sounds, living with cancer has changed my life for the better in some ways - it’s changed me into a positive person.

Focusing on the good doesn’t fix things, but it certainly helps you to cope. Some days I’m up and some days I’m down, but I’ve found that there’s a few key things that help me stay level."

We are thrilled to announce that Bank Top Brewery are joining Bolton Hospice as Platinum Patrons! 🍺

“Being a Patron of Bolton Hospice means a great deal to everyone at Bank Top Brewery.
