A little look at just some of the things that have brought people into clinic this week 👀❤️

One of the things I love about Sports Therapy is that no two patients - or days - are ever quite the same.

Someone might come in because pain is stopping them sleeping. Someone else is worried they’ll have to stop running. Another person has been putting up with something for months because they simply didn’t know where to start.

Different people. Different problems. Different goals.

And that’s exactly why treatment and rehabilitation should never be one-size-fits-all.

You also don’t need to know exactly what’s wrong before you come and see me. That’s what your initial consultation is for - we’ll talk through what’s been happening, assess things properly and work out the best way forward for you.

Recognise yourself in any of this week’s clinic conversations? You’re always welcome to get in touch. ❤️

If there’s one thing I’d love more people to know, it’s this…

The title after someone’s name is only one part of the picture.

When you’re looking for help with pain or injury, it’s easy to search for a “physio” because it’s the profession most people know.

But there are other degree-qualified musculoskeletal professionals too, including Graduate Sports Therapists.

This isn’t about saying one profession is better than another. There are brilliant physiotherapists, sports therapists, osteopaths, chiropractors and many other healthcare professionals. The most important thing is finding the right clinician for you.

As a Graduate Sports Therapist, I’m trained to assess, treat and rehabilitate a wide range of musculoskeletal conditions, with one goal in mind: helping people move better, feel more confident and get back to doing the things they love.

At the end of the day, the goal is the same: helping people move better, feel more confident and get back to doing the things they love. And that’s something every good clinician wants. 🤍

A patient came to see me recently after months of foot pain.

By the time they walked into clinic, it wasn’t just their foot that was affected.

They’d stopped running.

Work had become more difficult.

They couldn’t even enjoy playing football with their children.

One of the first conversations we had wasn’t about giving all of those things up.

It was about finding a starting point.

✔️ What can you do?

✔️ How can we gradually build your confidence back up?

✔️ How do we get you back to doing the things that matter most to you?

That’s what rehabilitation means to me.

It’s not about telling people everything they can’t do.

It’s about helping them get back to the life they want to live.

Every person is different, and every rehabilitation journey is different too. But my goal is always the same: to help people move with more confidence and get back to the things they love. 🤍

One thing I’ve learnt from working with hundreds of patients is this…

People are incredibly good at adapting.

They’ll change how they walk.
Avoid certain movements.
Stop hobbies they love.
Put up with aches and pains for months, sometimes years.

Not because they want to.

But because they assume it’s “just one of those things.”

It doesn’t have to be.

Whether it’s a recent injury, arthritis, persistent pain or something that’s just never quite settled, there are often things we can do to help you move with more confidence again.

If you’ve been putting something off, maybe this is your reminder to stop just living with it. 🤍

Things Sports Therapists do that patients never see… 👀

Writing patient notes and suddenly finding yourself recreating every movement they showed you in the appointment. 😂

👉 “Was it when you lifted it like this?”
👉 “Or was it this movement?”
👉 “No, hang on…”

A lot of clinical reasoning happens after you’ve left the room. Sometimes the notes take longer because we’re trying to make sure we’ve understood exactly what’s going on and how best to help.

I promise there is usually a method behind the madness. 🤣

One of the biggest mistakes I see people make with rehab is thinking they need a huge programme full of exercises.

The reality?

The most successful rehab plans are often the simplest.

👉 3-5 exercises

👉 A clear goal

👉 Done consistently

I’d much rather give someone 3 exercises they can realistically stick to than 10 exercises they never have time to do.

The best rehab programme isn’t the most complicated one.

It’s the one that fits into your life.

Because results come from consistency, not perfection.

If we can build rehab into your daily routine without it feeling like a chore, you’re far more likely to succeed. 💪

A common misconception I hear all the time…

“I’ll book in when it gets really bad.”

The truth is, you don’t need to wait until you’re struggling to move before seeking help.

Sports therapy isn’t just about treating pain.

It’s also about:

👉 Improving movement

👉 Building strength

👉 Preventing future injuries

👉 Increasing confidence in your body

👉 Helping you stay active doing the things you enjoy

Often the best results come when we address small issues before they become big ones.

Your body doesn’t need to be broken before it deserves attention. 💪
