If yourself or a loved one is living with diabetes, this one’s important 💙

Diabetes can cause a condition called neuropathy, where the nerves in your feet become damaged over time, reducing sensation. This means that blisters, corns or ulcers can develop without you even feeling them, and when things go unnoticed, small problems can quickly become bigger ones.

Here’s what to keep an eye on:
• Blisters or sores that appear without an obvious cause
• Corns or hard skin that are growing or changing
• Any cuts or wounds that are slow to heal
• Redness, swelling or changes in skin temperature

The good news? Catching these things early makes a huge difference. A regular foot check means nothing gets missed and you can stay one step ahead (pardon the pun!) 😅

If you or someone you care for is living with diabetes, please don’t put off getting your feet checked. I’m here to help, and it really could make all the difference 🦶

How are those New Year’s resolutions going?

If you’ve started swimming, yoga, martial arts (or anything that has your feet out more often) you’re definitely not alone.

With new routines often comes sweaty feet, busy changing rooms and more contact with shared spaces, which means your feet might be working harder than usual right now.

This isn’t about being perfect, just a gentle reminder to give your feet a little extra care while they’re doing all this extra work for you. Clean, dry, comfortable feet make a big difference to how you feel overall.

Looking after your feet is part of looking after yourself. And if you need a bit of support along the way, we’re always here to help 👣

👣 One thing I hear all the time as a Healthy Feet Practitioner is: “I thought it was just something I had to live with.”

Sore nails. Ongoing discomfort. Pain when walking. These things often get brushed off (especially as we get older) but they shouldn’t be ignored or normalised.

Discomfort isn’t “just part of life”, and there’s often something simple that can be done to help.

If your feet are stopping you from moving comfortably or enjoying your day, it’s worth asking for advice. You deserve to feel comfortable; from the ground up 👣

When it comes to foot health, it’s often the small, everyday habits that matter most.

A few gentle reminders that really do make a difference are:

🦶Changing into clean socks daily
🦶Taking a moment to dry carefully between your toes after washing
🦶Not ignoring sore spots, rubbing or “hot areas”
🦶Giving your feet a quick look every now and then

These little checks don’t take long, but they can help prevent discomfort and bigger problems later on.

A bit of daily care goes a long way, and your feet will thank you for it 👌🏻

Foot care is often seen as “just making things look nice”… but it’s so much more than that.

Yes, neat nails and tidy skin are a bonus, but real foot care is about comfort, mobility and keeping you pain-free.

For many people (especially older clients or those caring for a loved one), small issues can quickly affect balance, confidence and day-to-day movement if they’re left unchecked.

Looking after your feet means keeping them comfortable, safe and working as they should… not just presentable. And if something feels off, it’s always worth getting it checked. Your feet do a lot for you, after all. 👣

Hands up if you’ve ever come in from the cold and gone straight for the radiator... 🙋‍♀️🔥

Tempting, right? But if you’ve got chilblains, that’s one thing you’ll want to avoid!

Chilblains are small, itchy patches that can appear on your skin after being out in the cold and while they usually clear up on their own, a few simple do’s and don’ts can help:

Do 💖
- Keep warm (wear thick socks and waterproof shoes if you’re heading out!)
- Take paracetamol or ibuprofen if they’re sore

Don’t 🚫
- Warm your feet or hands directly on a radiator or under hot water… it can make things worse!
- Smoke or drink caffeine (they affect blood flow)
- Scratch or pick at your skin

So this winter, stay warm, stay cosy… but go easy on the radiator! 😉🧦👣
