The transformation you didn’t know you needed 🤩

From pre to post massage you can see how Zeus has gone from being hollow through the back, loading on to his shoulders and looking a bit like he’s been vacuum packed ⛓️ to softer through his body allowing the top line to lengthen, ribs to expand and back to come up 😌

I was then able to spend some time doing some targeted ground work with him, and the results speak for themselves! The combination of using massage to soften the body, target areas of discomfort and compensation, and address any dysfunction, followed by groundwork exercises to encourage correct and engaged movement totally transformed this wonderful pony ⚡️💪🏼

Bob the cob thoroughly appreciating some light compression 😌🤍🖤

The Brachiocephalicus muscle I am working over is heavily influential in not only flexion of the neck, but due to its length running all the way from the humerus (shoulder) up to the atlas (poll) it also plays an important role in forelimb protraction and stride length.

Dysfunction in this area can present as:
❌ shortened stride
❌ tightness in neck and asymmetry
❌ resistance in one rein

One thing I will be forever grateful to have gained from my journey of becoming a massage therapist is the deeper connection I now have with my own mare, Fairy 🧚🏼
Understanding how her body functions, her strengths and weaknesses, and being able to truly LISTEN to her has helped us come on not just in a ridden sense but also as a partnership. Don’t get me wrong, we have always had a good bond, having had her for 13 years, but it’s only been in the last couple of years I feel we have a true understanding and she will come to me as her safe space and truly allow me in. Being able to treat her is a real blessing, and I’m so lucky that I now have the skills to not only be that safe place for her and understand her body, but apply that to all my clients horses too 🫶🏼

Horses are incredibly good at adapting. They compensate, adjust, and keep working long before they show obvious signs that something feels uncomfortable. That is why bodywork appointments are often about far more than simply “fixing” a problem. They are part of a much bigger picture of supportin...

New tool in the tool kit 🛠️

⚫️ CUPPING ⚫️

Cupping works by creating negative pressure, lifting fascia and connective tissue. This process allows the lymphatic system to clear away waste that has been bought to the surface, allowing space for new fresh blood to flow to the area 〰️

There are many benefits to using cups:
🔺 Pain relief
🔺 Improved blood flow and lymphatic drainage
🔺 Myofascial release helping to break down fascial adhesions and restrictions
🔺 Muscle relaxation and increased range of motion
