I know what it feels like to be on the edge of a breakdown… and still have to keep going.

There have been times where I’ve had a big job that required me to be the unshakeable female in a male dominated company, a child who needs me, school runs, endless washing, dinner to cook every night, family politics to navigate, a house to keep on top of, and the invisible mental load that so many women carry.

You tell yourself, “Just get through today.” Then tomorrow comes, and you do it all again.

Little by little, it builds.

Your shoulders stay tense. Your jaw clenches. Your chest feels heavy. Your stomach is constantly in knots. You become reactive, overwhelmed, exhausted, anxious, snappy, tearful, or completely numb. You stop recognising yourself.

It’s not because you’re weak. It’s because your body has been carrying more than it was ever designed to hold.

For me, learning how to release that stress through the body changed everything. Not because life suddenly became easier, but because my body stopped feeling like it was fighting for survival every single day.

We can’t always remove the stress. But we can teach the body how to stop storing it.

That’s the work I now help other women do. If you’re intrigued to learn more about how we release this from the body, comment TRAUMA below.

We’ve been taught to believe that release has to look like sobbing on the floor, shaking uncontrollably, or having a huge emotional breakthrough.

But that’s not how the human body always works.

The nervous system releases what it feels safe enough to release. Sometimes that’s a flood. More often, it’s slow, measured, and almost imperceptible.

It might look like taking a deeper breath without realising. Your shoulders dropping for the first time in years. Sleeping through the night. Realising that the thing that used to trigger you no longer does. Feeling a little lighter in your chest. A little more present. A little more like yourself.

The body is intelligent. It doesn’t need to force healing, and it doesn’t need fireworks to prove that something meaningful is happening.

Gentle change is still profound change.

Trust the quiet moments. They are often where the deepest healing begins.

So many women come to me saying, “I’ve done the therapy. I understand what happened. So why do I still feel heaviness in my chest, anxiety in the heart space?” 🤍

Because sometimes the mind has processed the experience, but the body is still responding as if it needs to stay on guard.

You might notice it as a heaviness in your chest that never seems to lift. A heart that feels protected behind invisible armour. Tight hips that never truly soften. A knot in your stomach. A jaw that won’t unclench. Shoulders that seem to carry the weight of everyone else. These sensations can persist long after the event itself has passed.

Somatic trauma release isn’t about forcing emotions out of the body. It’s about creating enough safety for the nervous system to begin letting go of the protective patterns it has held onto for months, years, or even decades.

When the body no longer feels it has to brace, protect, or survive, something begins to shift. The breath deepens. The chest softens. Movement feels easier. Many women describe feeling lighter, calmer, more present, and more connected to themselves.

Sometimes healing doesn’t need more words.

Sometimes, it begins when the body finally feels safe enough to exhale.

Trapped emotion is not just a psychological experience; it’s a physiological one too. While we often think of emotions as something that happens in the mind, every emotion also creates a response in the body. Stress, fear, grief and trauma can influence our breathing, muscle tension, posture, heart rate and nervous system. When these responses are not fully processed, the body can continue to hold protective patterns long after the original event has passed. This is why some people experience chronic tension, unexplained pain, anxiety or a constant feeling of being on edge, even when they understand what happened intellectually.

Healing isn’t always about talking more—sometimes it’s about helping the body feel safe enough to let go of what it has been holding.

Are you ready to let go?

Talking therapy is powerful, and I’ll always advocate for it. 🤍

In fact, I often find the women who come to me have already done the talking. They’ve spent months or years making sense of what happened to them. They understand the patterns, they know where the trauma came from, and they’ve done the intellectual work.

But sometimes, despite all of that, the body is still carrying it.

The nervous system is still on high alert. The chest still feels tight. The hips still hold tension. The shoulders never quite relax. Anxiety keeps showing up. The inexplicable headaches keep coming. Chronic pain lingers with no obvious explanation.

That’s where somatic work comes in.

We stop asking the mind to do all the healing and start listening to the body.

Through gentle, body-led practices and various modalities, I work with the nervous system, muscle memory and the physical patterns that can remain long after you understand your story. It isn’t about reliving your trauma or analysing it again. It’s about creating the conditions for your body to let go of what it no longer needs to hold.

Are you ready to do the somatic work?

Myofascial release is not Human Garage.

The work I do is slow, intentional, and guided by what the body is willing to release. Rather than forcing change, I create the conditions for the nervous system and fascia to let go of restrictions naturally. It’s about listening to the body, not overriding it.

Personally, I find Human Garage techniques too invasive for my approach. While I respect that different modalities resonate with different people, I don’t believe that bigger movements or more intense techniques are always better.

For me, healing doesn’t need to feel forceful.

I’ve seen time and again that lasting change comes from working with the body, not against it. When the nervous system feels safe, the fascia responds. That’s where I choose to focus my practice.

There is something truly magical that happens when women come together to heal. ✨

In our Spinal Energetics sessions, it’s so common to witness women who arrived as strangers instinctively reaching for one another. A hand to hold. A reassuring touch.

No one asks them to do it—it simply unfolds.

Healing can feel vulnerable, and if the thought of doing it in a group makes you apprehensive, I understand. But you may be surprised by how deeply held you feel when you’re surrounded by people who are all there with the same intention: to soften, to release, and to come home to themselves.

There is something incredibly powerful about remembering that you don’t have to carry everything alone.

Come join us at our next small group Spinal Energetics session at REGULATE STUDIO | Sound Therapy Hertfordshire on Friday 7th August at 10am.

I love working with women’s bodies. 🤍

Sometimes just to be held is enough ❤️

✨ Trauma Alchemy Release ✨

Trauma Alchemy Release is a trauma-informed somatic practice that works with the wisdom of the body to uncover and release unresolved emotions that may be held within the body. Rather than talking through past experiences, I create a safe space to tune into physical sensations, identify areas of stored tension or emotional holding, and support the body’s to let go.
