Step into their world at our FREE Dementia Workshop 🧠👩‍⚕️

Join us at Meadowhill Care Home for an opportunity to experience, first-hand, some of the challenges a person living with dementia may face in their everyday life.

Through an immersive experience, you’ll gain an insight into what it can feel like to complete everyday tasks, communicate, make decisions and even experience mealtimes while living with dementia.

This specialist dementia training is delivered by our Group Training Manager, Maria, who has completed specialist immersive dementia training with Training 2 Care UK Ltd This training enables Maria to deliver an experience designed to help people better understand dementia by experiencing situations from the perspective of someone living with the condition.

Our team have all had the opportunity to take part and benefit from this experience, helping us develop a deeper understanding of dementia and how we support our residents.
Now, we’re opening this powerful experience to members of our local community. Whether you’re supporting a parent, grandparent, partner or friend, this is an opportunity to understand their world a little better and gain practical insight into how you can communicate and support them with greater understanding and compassion.

Across Westgate Healthcare, July was filled with incredible Summer BBQs, bringing together residents, families, friends and our dedicated teams for days full of celebration, live entertainment and delicious food.

From themed celebrations to music, dancing and community spirit, every BBQ was a reminder that it's the people we share these moments with that make them what they are.

We're proud to announce that Westgate Healthcare is now one of only three care providers in the UK able to deliver the immersive DIET (Dining Immersive Experiential Training) programme in-house.

Thanks to Group Training Manager Maria, who has qualified as a licensed facilitator, every new colleague will now experience this innovative dementia training alongside our Virtual Dementia Experience as part of their induction.

By helping our teams better understand the challenges people living with dementia face at mealtimes, we're building greater empathy, confidence and person-centred care from day one.

Because exceptional dementia care starts with understanding. 💙

🌞🎉 We're delighted to announce the winners of our Resident Summer Big Wish competition!

This year, we're making not one, but two special wishes come true for two wonderful residents.

🧱 Congratulations to Dot from Kingfisher Nursing Home! Dot is a passionate LEGO enthusiast who has built an impressive collection over the years, including her beautiful LEGO flower displays. Her Big Wish is to visit a LEGO Store! She'll be travelling on our minibus to the LEGO Store in Milton Keynes, where she'll have the opportunity to choose a brand-new LEGO set to add to her collection before enjoying lunch at a nearby restaurant.

⚽ Congratulations to Tony from Westgate House Care Centre! A lifelong Arsenal supporter, Tony's Big Wish is to visit Emirates Stadium - the home of Arsenal, for the very first time. He'll enjoy a behind-the-scenes stadium tour, have lunch while he's there, and is already looking forward to wearing his Arsenal shirt for the occasion.
