Is this YOU? is there anything I missed?
You work from home
⭐️You can't get out for a walk as it RAINS all the time...
⭐️Your 5 minute break is now FULL of meetings....
⭐️You were meant to get up from your desk but TIME flew by...
⭐️You strangely MISS the commute to work as you knew you had moved...
⭐️You feel you can never switch OFF..
⭐️You have taken the mandatory well-being training, but it does not feel you have any REAL support from work...
⭐️When you get tense or STRESSED you can feel your shoulders hunching
⭐️You are STILL working on a laptop, without a laptop stand or separate keyboard...
⭐️You notice that your getting MORE aches and pain in your back, neck, headaches....
⭐️You can list all the things that would help you feel better, but you STRUGGLE to do them....
Over the last two weeks I have had so many conversations in my clinic that really show that for many working from home is having a significant impact on physical health.
YES, I deal with sports injuries and trauma, but so many of my patients have pain that has slowly built up and WORKING FROM HOME is often a cause.
All of my patients, think that it is only effecting them, but I KNOW that at least three times a week, ANOTHER patient will come in and mention the same thing.
I've been reflecting on why this happens so often.
😦It seems to be a combination of PRESSURE from work, PRESSURE that people place on themselves and PRESSURE from life.
AND
😔Experiencing feelings of GUILT and SHAME for prioritising well-being.
If this is YOU, know your not alone 🥰
Start with small things to help
⭐️Create, if possible a separate office space you can pack up or leave at the end of the day.
⭐️Set a timer to help you stand up every 30 minutes, have a WIGGLE, or just DANCE for a minute to get the blood flowing
⭐️Set a time to have regular 15 minute breaks
⭐️ Speak to your team or boss, you will not be the only one on your team who needs this. Maybe you can all take a break at the same time.
⭐️Buy waterproofs and go for a walk at lunch or after work
⭐️Organise a good work station, at minimum a laptop stand, separate keyboard and mouse
