Last month we were delighted to welcome Brenda Rennie, newly appointed President of ABDO (Association of British Dispensing Opticians) as part of their tour of the Country celebrating 100 years of dispensing optics.

Launched in January, ABDO's centenary activities are designed to shine a spotlight to recognise the vital role DO's play in delivering high quality eyecare and supporting patients. We are privileged in Mackie Opticians to have Addrienne a Dispensing Optician and member of ABDO who has been qualified for over 30 years and brings a wealth of knowledge and expertise.

Throughout the year, ABDO is focussing on the profession's contribution to community practice, education and clinical care while celebrating it's rich heritage and inspiring future generations. Addrienne was inspired by her Optometrist brother to begin a career in Optics and indeed has 3 family members in the Optics profession.

🎉 Welcome Neil Gray to Mackie Eyecare! 🎉
We’re delighted to welcome Neil Gray as our new Optometrist and Director.

Neil brings extensive clinical experience and a strong background in independent optometry, along with a passion for delivering personalised, high-quality eye care. His particular areas of interest include diabetes management, anterior eye conditions, and the use of advanced technology to support early diagnosis and better patient outcomes.

Outside the practice, Neil is married to Katie and lives in Glasgow’s West End. Together they enjoy travelling and golfing, and are always on the lookout for their next adventure—destination recommendations are very welcome! ⛳✈️
We’re excited about the expertise, leadership, and patient-focused care Neil will bring to the Mackie Eyecare team.
