This month's issue of Hypnotherapy Today, the magazine of the National Hypnotherapy Society features an article I wrote about dopamine's role in habit formation. The magazines asked for contributions from practitioners on how to work with habits. My article focuses on a growing body of evidence that suggests that SSRIs can subtly reshape the brain’s reinforcement learning systems. These changes may help explain why some habits weaken during treatment, why others become harder to initiate, and why certain patients report shifts in motivation or emotional responsiveness.
