Amber and yellow heat-health alerts are in place across the country from 3-5 August.

It's important to stay cool and keep hydrated, particularly for people who are vulnerable.

Starting tomorrow, amber and yellow heat-health alerts have been issued across most of the country. They are in place for the 29 and 30 July.

Some people – particularly the elderly, very young, or those with existing health conditions – face a real risk to their health and need to take steps to keep cool.

While the weather is warm, look out for vulnerable family, friends and neighbours. Make sure they are aware of how they can keep cool and hydrated.

Are you a parent or carer of a young adult with a learning disability?

If your young person is 14 or older and has a learning disability, they can access a health check at their GP practice.

Use the remainder of the summer holidays to book their appointment in. It’s a relaxed way to get some simple health measures taken and for young adults to get familiar with the GP practice. They can ask questions and discuss how they look after their health and wellbeing.

An action plan personal to them will be shared, which they can use as part of how they look after their health and well-being. It’s something that can be reviewed at their next health check too.

Note: if your young person has not had a full diagnosis of a learning disability yet, they are still able to have a health check.

🌾 Our countryside belongs to all of us.

Whether you're walking the dog, enjoying a family day out or simply making the most of the sunshine, we all have a part to play in protecting it.

During hot, dry weather, even a small spark can quickly become a large wildfire, putting wildlife, homes, businesses and firefighters at risk.

If you're spending time outdoors:
🚭 Fully extinguish smoking materials and never throw cigarette ends from your vehicle.
🔥 Leave campfires and barbecues at home, and always follow any restrictions in parks and open spaces.
🚒 If you spot a fire, don't assume someone else has reported it. Get to a safe place, note the location (What3Words can help) and call 999 immediately.

Every wildfire prevented is one less risk to our communities, our countryside and the crews who respond. Thank you for doing your part to help keep everyone safe this summer. 💚
