And just like that - he’s off 😭.

Kaliel has gone travelling and planning to go for around a year.

I’ve encouraged it, to get out there and see the world. I think he’ll grow in so many ways. I’m genuinely excited for him, but that doesn’t mean him going isn’t going to take some big adjustment.

Nearly 24 years of him living at home, and for most of those years it’s been just me and my two boys.

Anyone who knows me knows that learning how to parent in a healthy way so I don’t mess them up, making sure I raised good men, being both Mum and Dad whilst trying to heal and navigate so many challenges myself, and trying to provide, is not something I’ve found easy.

At times the weight of it felt like it was going to break me.
And there’s much that I didn’t get right, but I took accountability and committed to learning how to show up better. And kids will reveal ALL the parts of you that need some work lol.

With Kaliel, I practically had to grow up with him. I was literally 23 when I gave birth to him whilst living in a room in supported housing. I literally had nothing.

I’m not going to lie, at times parenting him challenged me to my core. Mainly because of my own crap that needed healing and my circumstances, and partly because kids can be bloody challenging 🙈.

But after navigating some damn tough times, we’re now so close.

So I’m excited to watch him go out there and have this adventure, but I also know it’s going to feel very strange living in a house without him there.
Nearly 24 years of having him at home. I’m not sure you can ever really prepare yourself for what it feels like when that changes.

So damn proud of you KALIEL

A lot can change when you stop asking, “Do they want me?” and start asking, “Is this actually what I want?”

That shift took me a bloody long time to learn 😂

Anyone else spent far too much of their life worrying about being chosen? 🙋🏽‍♀️

If you’re trying to get clearer about what you want, need and should actually be looking for in a relationship, comment CHECKLIST and I’ll send you my free Relationship Reality Check. 👇🏽

Sometimes we don’t give ourselves enough credit for how much courage it’s taken to keep going, keep growing and keep believing things can get better.

Drop a 🤍 if you know this kind of courage, and tag someone who deserves reminding of theirs too. We all need that reminder sometimes 🙏🏽

Softness doesn’t mean don’t have boundaries, but there’s a difference between a boundary and a wall.

We harden to protect ourselves because leaving ourselves vulnerable to be hurt again feels too scary.

But that softness is a gift. It doesn’t mean you can’t let people know what time it is if needed😂, it just means that you can learn to do that in healthier ways but means you don’t block yourself or opportunities or people because of becoming hard hearted.

A great way to keep soft is to know who to keep the softness for - my FREE relationship reality checklist can help with that 😊🙌🏽. Just comment the word CHECKLIST below and I’ll send it over ❤️🙏🏽

Let me know if you agree👇🏽
