Neuroplastic-Osteopathy

Neuroplastic-Osteopathy As a fully mobile, holistic, Osteopath I bring treatment and support into the comfort of your home.

I identify the underlying root cause of your pain and together we enable you to move, feel and live better - not just for now but for the longer term too. I was born in South Africa but have been living in the UK since 2000. With a Master’s degree in Osteopathy and over 25 years of experience in movement, posture, and alignment—including teaching Reformer Pilates—I have dedicated my career to unde

rstanding pain, the body, and how we heal.

Early in my journey, I focused on physical treatments, but over time, I realised that true, lasting recovery often lies beyond the physical. My own experience with injuries, as well as my extensive study of pain science, led me to adopt a more holistic, mind-body approach. Through neuroplastic pain treatments and the SIRPA (Stress-Induced Pain Recovery Association) Programme, I have seen first-hand how shifting away from purely structural treatments towards an evidence-based psychological approach can help people achieve lasting relief.

As a SIRPA-certified practitioner, I specialise in helping people overcome persistent pain and other neuroplastic symptoms, whether they present as back pain, migraines, digestive issues, fibromyalgia, chronic fatigue, tinnitus, long COVID symptoms, or other stress-related conditions. My work is influenced by leading pain science experts, including Dr John Sarno, Dr Howard Schubiner, and Dr David Hanscom, whose DOC (Direct Your Own Care) Method provides a structured approach to rewiring neural pathways and addressing the mind-body connection in recovery.

It's running race season – do you feel race ready or are you suffering from back, knee, foot or Achilles pain and worried you won’t be able to run.

Did you know that all pain symptoms are actually related to fear responses. Interesting isn’t it.

The closer you get to the race, the greater the nervousness (stress), the greater the nervousness or fear of the race, the more you start to feel pain. The good news is, you CAN run, you are NOT injured.

Contact me for a free consultation to find out more and I’ll see you at the start line.

Neuroplasticity… you’ve probably heard the word thrown around a lot in chronic pain circles 🤩

But what does it mean? 🤔

In simple terms, it’s how your brain learns 👩‍🎓

Every time you learn something new, your brain 🧠 changes a little.

Think about when you first learned to ride a bike 🚴‍♀️ , it felt clumsy, maybe even a bit scary. But the more you practiced, the easier it became. Eventually, you didn’t have to think about it at all

That’s because “neurons that fire together, wire together.”

The more you repeat something, the stronger 💪 those pathways in your brain become

People often call this “muscle memory,” but it’s not really your muscles remembering, it’s your brain. Your muscles are just following instructions 🧑‍🏫

Now here’s where it gets interesting… 🤔

Pain is a learned process too 😳

Think about a fire 🔥 You don’t need to touch it to know it’s dangerous, you’ve already learned that it can burn you. So, your brain decides what to do so that you do not cause damage

That’s a healthy, protective response

But what about something like back pain? 🤔

Maybe you’ve had a scan and been told your discs are “worn” or “damaged.” Then you’re told to be careful, don’t bend like this, don’t lift that, or you might make it worse. Maybe someone even says, “Well, that’s just age.”

Bit by bit, that builds fear

And to your brain, fear = danger 🤯

So, your brain steps in to protect you. It tightens (spasms) muscles, limits movement, maybe even creates pain to stop you from doing something it thinks is risky.

Over time, that protective response becomes a habit

That’s why I say, pain is learned. Not because it’s made up, but because your brain has learned to see certain movements or situations as a threat

And here’s the good news… 😁

If your brain can learn pain, it can also learn safety again 🥰 NO PAIN
