If you're going outdoors, don't forget your suncream!

UV rays can damage your skin and increase your risk of skin cancer. Protect yourself by:

• Using SPF 30+ sunscreen with at least 4-star UVA protection
• Reapplying every 2 hours, and after swimming or sweating
• Wearing a wide brimmed hat, sunglasses and seeking shade when the sun is strongest (1pm–5pm)

Suncream works best alongside other sun protection, not on its own. Stay safe and enjoy the sunshine!

For more tips on staying safe in the sun, see the link in the comments.

The days are still getting hot!

The heat can be dangerous, especially if you have a long-term illness.

Keep cool this week by drinking plenty of water, avoid the sun between 1pm to 5pm, have cool baths or showers and if you have to go out, walk in the shade and apply sunscreen every 2 hours.

There is more information on how to stay safe this summer on our public health portal, link in the comments.

If you're spending time in the sun, don't forget to protect your skin.

• Apply SPF 30 or higher 15-20 minutes before going outside.
•Reapply sunscreen every 2 hours and after swimming, sweating or towel drying.
•Wear a wide-brimmed hat, sunglasses and lightweight clothing.
•If you're out and about, seek shade especially between 11am to 3pm which is when the sun rays are the strongest.

Sunburn increases your risk of skin cancer and UV rays can damage your skin even on cloudy days.

Stay safe, protected and enjoy the sun!

This week is alcohol awareness week! This is an opportunity to raise awareness the impact alcohol can have on our mental wellbeing, physical health, communities and relationships. Alcohol can also increase the risk of serious health conditions including liver disease, high blood pressure, stroke and several types of cancer.

If you're thinking of cutting down, small changes can make a big difference. Having a few alcohol-free days each week, choosing lower strength drinks or reducing the amount you drink can help improve your health.
