We’re reflecting on some of our brilliant All Star Awards winners and the people who make a difference behind the scenes.

Melanie was the winner of the Non-Clinical Colleague Award, recognising the impact she has through improving governance, supporting colleagues and helping services provide safe, high-quality care.

We asked Melanie what it meant to be nominated and what it felt like to hear her name called as the winner.

💬 “It means a great deal. I know how busy everyone is, so for someone to pause and recognise the work I do feels incredibly thoughtful and meaningful. It is a real reminder that the work behind the scenes matters and that the effort put into improving governance, supporting colleagues, and helping services provide safe, high-quality care is valued. I feel genuinely grateful and humbled and quite emotional by the nomination.”

And when Julian announced her as the winner?

💬 “I heard Julian say my name, but it did not immediately register that he meant me! I turned to my colleague and asked, “Did Julian just say my name?” and they replied, “Yes, get yourself up there!”. I was genuinely shocked, but also incredibly touched. It took a few seconds for it to sink in that I had actually won, and then I just felt a mixture of surprise, gratitude and emotion. It was a very special moment and one I will not forget.”

Congratulations again, Melanie, and thank you for everything you do. 💙👏

Thank you to everyone who took part in our recent workshop and survey to help shape the future of mental health support for young people transitioning into adult services.

Your experiences, ideas and honest feedback are already helping us understand what matters most. One message came through loud and clear: young people and families want services to work better together, with clearer information, smoother transitions and more consistent support, so they do not have to repeat their story every time they access help.

We're listening, and your voices will continue to shape this work as we develop a more joined-up, person-centred approach for 16 – 25-year-olds.

This is just the beginning. Thank you for being part of the conversation and helping us create meaningful change. 💙

Thank you to E Sargeant & Son Funeral Directors Community Fund in Slough for their generous donation.

Healthcare appointments and treatments for some children, young adults and neurodiverse people can feel overwhelming and anxiety provoking. Clinical areas and waiting rooms are often full of noises, smells, sounds and lighting that can add to this feeling. Our clinical colleagues go above and beyond to create a positive experience for patients and service users during their care and at Berkshire Healthcare Charity, we want to help too.
Healthcare

This kind donation will fund 10 Calm Moments distraction boxes, filled with sensory toys and distraction resources to provide comfort and reduce fear and distress, while creating a more positive experience of healthcare for our patients and their families.

Thank you for helping good care go further, locally. 💜
