A Quiet Mind Sound Healing & Self Discovery

It’s very strange losing a parent isn’t it. Like what do you mean I’m a grown up with two children and house etc etc but still wish I could run and give my Dad a hug when life gets hard, like no time has passed at all. No profound lessons on this one other than in my experience grief, like most things, gets softer with the time. It’s not always going to feel as big as it may currently feel. Loads of love to those who find days like today hard ♥️

Week 3 of climbing.

Posting these updates is partly a way of keeping myself accountable.

I’ve realised that when life gets busy, the first things to disappear are usually the things I do just for me. Between kids, work and everything else, hobbies definitely have a habit of falling off the list 👀

So I’m trying something different and committing to this until September.

I feel like there’s probably a deeper point here about building self trust by keeping promises to yourself. I’m too tired to turn that into a meaningful life lesson this week.

Maybe by Week 4 I’ll have figured out how to put it into words.

Getting my own climbing shoes next week, bye bye rentals 🙌

Some higher scores today 🙌

These are the things that I would say have created the biggest shifts within me. Took me a while to find some of them but when I did I knew they were right for me.

For a long time, though, that felt quite demoralising. I’d try things that seemed to help everyone else and wonder why they weren’t having the same effect on me.

So if you’re currently looking for support, whether that’s for your mental health, healing from the past or simply understanding yourself better, don’t assume something is wrong with you because one approach hasn’t worked.

Keep exploring. Stay curious. Pay attention to what you’re drawn towards.

What worked for me may not work for you. What didn’t help me much might be exactly what someone else needs.

A little reminder, some of the most healing things in my life have been:

Family. Community. Nature. Laughter. Movement. Rest. Dancing. Meaningful conversations.

And perhaps most importantly…

Don’t let healing, growth and self-improvement become another reason to never feel satisfied with where you’re at.

Hypothetically speaking, of course. I would never do that 👀🙃

If you missed PART ONE go back and take a look.

Reminder that this is just my personal experience. What didn’t work for me might be exactly what someone else needs, and vice versa.

A little reminder too that healing doesn’t always look like any of these things. Sometimes it’s a conversation with a friend, a walk in nature, a supportive community, medication, faith, creativity, or simply getting through another day.

So please don’t take this as a checklist, or any sort of barometer for how many things you should be trying.

I’ve simply spent a lot of time trying to make sense of my own experiences (I’m fun like that 🙃) and work out how to move forward from them.

I’d also like to acknowledge the privilege of being able to access and explore different forms of support. Many people in previous generations certainly didn’t. So many people were, and still are, simply doing the best they can with what they have.

I don’t know the answer to this, but I do hope that by talking about these things more, it brings greater awareness to the different types of support that are out there.

I’d love to hear from you though.

What has helped you most on your own journey? ✨

Today marks 22 years since I lost my dad.

Thinking of him today, and of anyone else carrying someone they’ve lost with them through life.

One thing I like to remind myself is this:

How lucky I am to still remember, and still be able to feel, just how much I was loved 22 years later ❤️
