Osteopaths treat the whole body.

Osteopaths are trained to diagnose what is causing your pain or refer you to the right place if more appropriate.
They treat joints, muscles, bones, fascia, nerves, ligaments, tendons, viscera, the lymphatic system and advise on pain management, lifestyle changes, exercises and prevention. Hands on techniques help restore the body back to normal function.

There are so many different problems that we can help with; we treat far more than just back pain.
All our osteopaths offer a free face to face 15 minute appointment to discuss if treatment might be of help and to answer any of your questions.

Have you heard of the Vagus nerve?

Mechanical restrictions, tensions and dysfunction at the top of the neck can cause far more than just pain. The vagus nerve is the main nerve of the system that controls digestion, heart rate and other vital functions and it exits the brain at the base of the skull/top of the neck.

Functions:

Plays a vital role in digestion - hunger, sickness, acid production in the stomach etc.
Heart rate, blood pressure and breathing.
Immune response.
Mood.
Mucus and saliva production.
Skin and muscle sensations.
Speech.
Taste.
Urine output.
Dysfunction of the vagus nerve can cause:

Abdominal pain and bloating.
Acid reflux.
Changes to heart rate, blood pressure or blood sugar.
Difficulty swallowing.
Dizziness or fainting.
Hoarseness, wheezing or loss of voice.
Loss of appetite.
Nausea and vomiting.
Whilst there can be many reasons for these symptoms, it might be worth considering a mechanical cause for them - a recent accident, an older knock to the head or fall, poor posture or working position or repetitive strains from a hobby or playing of a musical instrument.

Charlie Ellis-James – Homeopath
RSHom LCPH

Charlie believes everyone has the right to find the best fit system of medicine for themselves, and their family.

For those who choose homeopathy, we are able to help with everyday health issues, as well as healing deep trauma, with this gentle yet deep medicine. From short term coughs and colds, to seasonal allergies and chronic health issues; homeopathy has the power to make positive change to all such conditions.

The true transformational power of homeopathy comes from its ability to help navigate and heal deep rooted trauma and grief. As when we start to shine a light in this area, our health and our being is truly able to move forward.

Charlie works to teach and make homeopathy accessible to as many people as possible. She is also a mother to two young children, and is happiest when her family is on a long dog walk, or spending long days and nights amongst nature.

Today is World Osteopathy Day 🤍⭐

Founded by Dr Andrew Taylor Still in 1874, osteopathy has grown into a profession practised and taught around the world, built on the principle that structure and function are closely related, and that the body has an inherent capacity to adapt, heal and self-regulate.

It highlights the holistic healthcare practice that uses hands-on techniques like stretching, massage, and joint manipulation to improve mobility.

Osteopathy continues to evolve through research, education and clinical practice, while remaining rooted in the principles that shaped the profession from the very beginning.

Today is a day to celebrate the osteopathic profession, its practitioners, educators and students, and the positive impact osteopathy continues to have on patients around the world.
