Today, our Funeral Service Specialist, Colin, had the pleasure of visiting some of the team from Marie Curie Hospice, at Shay Grange, to attend one of our Crematorium Tour seminars.

We would like to extend our sincere thanks to everyone who joined us. We hope the tour provided a valuable insight into the cremation process and helped answer any questions, supporting the incredible work you do every day for patients and their families. A huge thank you to Bradford Council staff there today showing people around.

Thank you once again for your warm welcome today.

Christine was born in Staffordshire in September 1945, to Bill & Iris. They moved to Oakenshaw in Bradford when she was just one. There, she lived for around 16 years and was joined in a happy childhood by sisters Katherine & Pauline.

At 17, Christine joined the army, something she was very proud of all of her life. She was posted in Germany, where she had her first baby Darren, who unfortunately died at birth. Christine never forgot Darren and made sure her children knew all about their big brother in the future.

Christine was then posted in Singapore where she welcomed her son Darrell into the world in 1966... and a pet monkey called Tina! She left the army in 1968 and while this was only a short period in her life, she made lifelong friends.

After returning to England, she welcomed her children Bobby in 1970, and Tammy in 1979.

Christine was a bubbly soul and got on with everyone that she was given the opportunity to meet. This meant a lot of friends were made along the way! She spent endless nights out in pubs with her best friend Lil where she eventually met the love of her life, Barry.

Christine and Barry spent nearly 30 happy years together and filled them with memories. Given Christine's fear of flying, their holiday of choice was a cruise and they went on many, often taking family and friends along to make memories with them.

Barry and Christine continued loving each other and when Barry passed away in April 2026, Christine was devastated. They're now reunited again in eternal rest.

Goodnight our little daydream believer.

Christine was the best Mum, Nana, Sister, and Friend, and she will be missed by many.

Christine's funeral service will be held on Friday 7th August at 11.15 at Bierley Woods Crematorium. Family flowers only please but donations maybe made to Sandale Trust for which a box will be provided.

Today, we had the privilege of conducting the funeral service for Brian.

At the family's kind request, instead of taking floral tributes home, they wished for them to be donated to a local care home. We were honoured to deliver the beautiful flowers to Gables Care Home today, where we hope they will bring joy and brighten the day of the residents.

A heartfelt thank you to Brian's family for such a thoughtful and generous gesture. Your kindness will be greatly appreciated by everyone at Gables Care Home.

From all of us at D. Walsh & Son Funeral Directors, thank you for allowing us to be part of celebrating Brian's life. ๐Ÿ’
