Fantastic presentation and Q&A session with Mell today at the Cancer support Group. Mell’s wealth of knowledge was amazing, particularly around insurance and making sure you are adequately covered when travelling with illness, or pre existing conditions.

💜 Bereavement Group- Wednesday 29th July 💜

Losing someone to cancer can feel incredibly isolating, but you don’t have to face it alone.

Our Bereavement Group offers a warm, welcoming space where you can share your thoughts and feelings (if you wish), connect with others who understand, and find support in a safe and understanding environment.

The group is facilitated by Jo Onions from RESET Grief Counselling and meets on the last Wednesday of every month.

Free bereavement support

If you are struggling with unresolved grief then you may find a Counsellor led support group helpful. I am a Palliative Nurse & Grief Counsellor and run a number of community based bereavement groups. There are no waiting lists, no fees and no registration. Simply turn up on the day.

Grief has a way of freezing time for the one who suffers, while the world insists on moving forward as if nothing has changed. The bitterness of watching life go on, people laughing, working, living, feels like a betrayal, as if the world itself refuses to acknowledge the enormity of your loss. That quiet anger, that sense of abandonment by time itself, is a raw reminder of how isolated grief can make us feel. It’s not just grieving the person you’ve lost but resenting the unrelenting pace of a world that doesn’t stop to grieve with you.

Welcome to all of my new followers and anyone who may have stumbled across my page. My name is Jo Onions and I am a Grief Counsellor, with a background in palliative care nursing, spanning 30 years. I am the proud owner of Reset-counselling.co.uk and primarily provide support to anyone struggling with a recent or historical bereavement. I am slightly different from other Counsellors, in that I specialise mainly in grief. I have had the privilege of caring for many people at the end of their lives and I feel that this special experience has given me a huge foundation in grief support.

I work in two different ways:-
1. Firstly providing private 1-1, in person counselling at my beautiful Garden room in Addingham. (There is also the option of home visits if required).
Sessions are designed to provide a more personal, intimate form of support, for those who prefer to talk privately.
The cost of a one hour session is currently £50 *
I also offer a free 20 minute telephone consultation.
2. Community bereavement support groups. These are free to attend and available to anyone. No waiting lists, no forms to fill and no referral needed. Simply turn up on the day to access support.
The dates and times of the groups are as follows:-

Addingham
1st & 3rd Monday of every month, 7-9pm
The Hub, above Addingham library.

Silsden
1st & 3rd Tuesday of every month, 10.30-12.30
Silsden Methodist Church

Burley-in-Wharfedale
2nd & last Thursday of every month, 2-4pm
Grange Park Surgery

Keighley (in association with Keighley Healthy Living)
1st & 3rd Tuesday of every month, 1-3pm
Central Hall

Skipton (on behalf of Cancer support Yorkshire)
The last Wednesday of every month, 11.30-1pm

Adolescent support group (Ilkley)
Every week, starting on Tuesday July 14th, 4-5.30pm
Aimed at young people from 13-17 years of age.
Parents are welcome to enquire via email or telephone. No referral needed.

Cancer support group ( in association with Keighley Healthy Living)

IG medical.
Open to anyone living with a cancer diagnosis.
No referral needed.
