π "Stop overthinking."
If it were that easy... don't you think they would?
When someone is overthinking, they're often not choosing to stay stuck.
Their mind might be trying to: π Prepare for the worst. π Avoid making a mistake. π Make sense of a situation. π Protect them from getting hurt.
So hearing "Just stop overthinking" can sometimes feel like:
β "Your feelings don't matter." β "You're making a big deal out of nothing." β "You should be able to control your thoughts."
Instead, try saying:
π "Do you want to talk about it?" π "I'm here to listen." π "That sounds really difficult." π "Let's take it one step at a time."
You don't have to have the perfect words.
Sometimes, feeling heard is far more helpful than being told to "stop."
π¬ Has someone ever said something that actually helped when you were overthinking?
Share it in the commentsβyou might give someone else the words they need today.
π Save this post as a reminder: support doesn't always mean solving the problem. Sometimes it just means being there.
