The headaches didn't stop after the wedding. They got worse. You already know the doctors couldn't help, painkillers were all anyone offered, and none of it touched what was really going on.

Eventually I was put on a waiting list, two years long, for the pain clinic at the Charitรฉ in Berlin, one of the most renowned university hospitals in Germany. I got in a year early. They found inflammation in my spine and gave me injections. It helped, for a while. Then the pain always came back.

Eventually, the doctors decided my pain was psychosomatic. They sent me to a doctor who ran a course, once a week for six weeks, only for chronic pain patients. There, we learned autogenic training together, a way of speaking to your own nervous system until it learns to calm itself. Each week we were given one new sequence to add, and we had to practise what we already knew three times a day at home, until it became automatic.

I still remember the exact feeling, three weeks in. I used to cycle from my flat to that class and back. On the ride home after week three, I suddenly noticed I felt happy. Properly happy, relaxed, light, in a way I hadn't felt in years. And then I realised something else. I hadn't thought about my headaches at all. Not once. I'd simply forgotten them.

That was the actual end of it. Not one more injection, not one more pill. My own nervous system, finally given a way to switch itself off, one small sequence at a time.

I still practise it almost every day, over thirty years later.

It took me much longer to understand why the headaches had started in the first place. Not the exam. Not even the wedding, not really. Underneath both of them was something older, a feeling I'd carried since I was a child, that whatever I did, it had to be better, because good was never quite good enough. That belief is what pushed me past every limit I had, again and again, until my body finally forced me to stop.

I didn't understand any of that back then. I only understood it years later, looking back.

That's the difference I try to give my patients now, the thing I wish someone had given me. Not just a technique to calm the body, but the understanding of what's actually driving it underneath.

I know exactly where you are, if any part of this sounds familiar. I've been there. And I'm not there anymore.

If youโ€™re carrying something similar now, a body that wonโ€™t settle, a mind that wonโ€™t stop pushing, Iโ€™d love for you to join for an Inner Healer Connection Live Group.

Itโ€™s a small, guided space where we work through exactly this together.

In the former East Germany, housing was the number one problem. Almost nothing new was being built, and apartments were desperately scarce. The state had one rule that made it possible to get one: get married, and you had a right to a place of your own.

My boyfriend at the time, Horst, was 32 and had lived with his parents his entire life. His mother wanted him out. I was a student, placed in a different city for my mandatory work assignment, far from my family. So I had an idea. Back in March, we booked a wedding date, months ahead. Nothing serious, we told ourselves. We could always cancel. The important thing was qualifying for an apartment.

Somehow, everyone around us believed it was real. Both families started planning, talking to each other, making arrangements. It became too awkward, too far along, to say no. A friend of Horst's, a fellow musician, pulled me aside and told me plainly: he's only marrying you to get out of his parents' house. I told him I didn't want to marry either. I just wanted to see if we were even right for each other.

It didn't matter. The pressure kept building. My mother cried, because she'd already ordered the flower garlands for the wedding hall. Relatives from West Germany, people we could rarely even visit, since we were essentially locked inside East Germany, had already sent a wedding dress, something beautiful from the West, where everything was supposedly better quality. I wasn't even allowed to choose my own wedding dress, everything was already decided for me. The only thing that was mine to choose were the shoes, and I took months to pick them, without really understanding why at the time.

I lost ten kilos. I was skin and bones. I was so depressed and I hardly recognised it as depression, because I didn't have the words for it back then.

On the day of the wedding, at the registry office, I cried so hard that everyone assumed it was tears of joy. It wasn't.

At the reception, the band, the tables arranged in a horseshoe, both families watching, I did the first thing that was entirely my own that day. I took off my wedding ring.

The gifts stayed unopened in my childhood bedroom for days. When my grandmother finally asked if I wanted to open any of them, I told her the truth for the first time: I had no interest at all.

That's where I'll leave it for today. The headaches had already started by then, but I still didn't understand what all of this was quietly building toward.

Every expert had an opinion. None of them had your answer.

I spent more than 25 years helping people heal, and I noticed the same pattern again and again. The more people searched outside themselves, the further they drifted from their own truth.

You already carry what you are looking for.

This free guide walks you through five gentle ways to finally hear it: your own inner guidance, the one voice that has known your story from the very beginning.

I grew up in East Germany, in the former GDR. Studying was free there, but it came with a condition: as a student, you had to complete mandatory military training. Everyone in my course did theirs in year two. I'd been ill, so mine got pushed to year three, exactly during our final exam preparation.

I was a student of pedagogy, psychology, and music. And they sent me to a military complex, running drills, a soldier's uniform, a helmet, weapons training, in the middle of a summer by the sea. I couldn't see the sense in any of it. Not one full night's sleep there.

I know now that it wasn't the exam that broke something in me. It was that place. A rage I couldn't act on. And underneath that rage was helplessness: there was nothing I could do to stop it and nowhere for any of it to go. I believe that's where my sleeplessness really started.

When I got back, there was no time left to prepare properly. I've always needed a bit more time than others to feel ready, and now I had almost none. I took sleeping pills from my mother's cabinet, they stopped working too. Underneath it all was something older too, a feeling I'd carried since childhood, that whatever I did, it had to be better, because "good" was never quite good enough.

By my final oral exam in pedagogy, I couldn't concentrate anymore. Something in me had shut down. I still finished my degree overall with the highest honours, but that one exam stayed with me.

My professor, who had known me for three years, followed me out of the room afterward. She looked genuinely shaken. "You're my best student," she said. "What happened to you?"

She offered me a way out. I could retake the exam in a month, in September, once the new academic year had already started and every other student from my class would be gone.

I said no.

I already knew, somehow, that a month wouldn't change anything. I'd already been to doctor after doctor about the headaches by then, and every single one of them said the same thing: take painkillers. None of them ever worked. What started with that military complex turned into a three-year odyssey, through the rest of my studies and for two more years after that.

And underneath all of it, right at that exact time, there was one more thing hanging over me. I knew that right after this exam, I would be pressured into marrying someone I barely knew, someone I didn't even want to marry at all.

I can see now, all these years later, what that combination did to me. But back then, I had no idea.

That's where I'll leave it for today. What happened next changed everything, in ways I couldn't have imagined.

My e-book is finally here. ๐Ÿค

For years, I watched people (myself included) search for answers everywhere except the one place they actually live: within.

I can still remember that moment like it was yesterday. I had moved for the third time since coming to England, alone with my three children. I'd been raising them alone for years already, and it worked, because when the father doesn't pay, the state supports you. Until suddenly it didn't. My housing benefit just stopped. No warning, nothing.

I filed appeal after appeal. Document after document. And at some point my own children said it to me: "Mama, you're destroying yourself over this."

For a moment I thought about just going back to Germany. It would have been so much easier there. But something in me refused.

Around that time I enrolled in the most expensive training I had ever done, Marisa Peer's Rapid Transformational Therapy training. ยฃ7,000. I remember thinking: what am I doing, I need money, and now I'm about to spend money I don't have.

But I had always been fascinated by the subconscious mind. So I set up a payment plan and started. I worked constantly, seeing patients, studying whenever I could. There were afternoons my kids walked home in the rain because I couldn't leave to pick them up.

It wasn't glamorous. But the results with my own patients were real, and I got more confident with every session.

That decision changed my life. Not just because of what I learned about the subconscious, but because of what it taught me about myself: that when I get pushed into a corner, there's a part of me that simply doesn't give up.
