Edwin Pounds & Sons Edwin Pounds & Sons Funeral Directors Edwin Pounds & Sons Funeral Directors has been providing services within the local area for over 100 years.

Established in 1904, Edwin Pounds & Sons was mainly a farm but also incorporated being coal merchants and carriage proprietors. Providing horse & carriages to the local funeral directors. Edwin had eleven children, eight boys and three girls. All the boys worked within the business hence the name of Edwin Pounds & Sons. If you would like to talk to us about planning a funeral, please come and see us, or we can arrange a home visit. We’re also available 24 hours a day on the phone.

The first of our Community Fund recepients was the Anja Wilson Memorial - Supporting CRY.
Anja's mum, and founder of theAnja Wilson Memorial - Supporting CRYY has shared the following heartfelt words with us:

"...In June 2025, our beautiful daughter Anja died suddenly at home from an undiagnosed inherited heart condition. She was just 19 years old.

In her memory, we established Anja’s Memorial Fund in partnership with Cardiac Risk in the Young (CRY). The fund allows us to organise and fund local cardiac screening events for young people aged 14–35, helping to identify hidden heart conditions before tragedy strikes.

Every donation makes a real difference. The generous support from Edwin Pounds & Sons Funeral Directors will help fund future screening places for young people in our local community, creating a lasting legacy in Anja’s name and giving other families the opportunity we never had.

Thank you for helping us save lives..."

Our next recipient of the community fund, is The Clayton Estate Community Action Group. All of the judges were so impressed with this application form, and the proposal within it that they were offered the full amount of funding available.

Their fundraiser Sean provided us with the following words:

"...Clayton Estate Community Action Group are very grateful for the award of the grant. We work in a deprived area of Bradford, and the grant will help to support our food provision over the summer holidays - both our weekly meal and food bank - as well as providing some small gift bags for the children.
Summer is always a hard time for local families with the children being at home, so we always try to provide extra support when possible. Our community hub is valued and trusted by local residents. It is a safe space, and this grant will significantly help us to provide the help and support that is needed..."
