Huge thanks to Keighley Dementia Advice Community Group for yesterday's amazing Dementia Friends session! We were so happy to see our attendees able to ask questions, ask for advice, and hopefully we will welcome new members to our Dementia Hub. People living with dementia may carry out the same activity, make the same gesture, say the same thing or ask the same question over and over. Repetition may be because of memory loss.

There are some things we can try when supporting someone with dementia who is showing repetitive behaviour.

Tips include being patient, keeping a level and calm tone, having an allocated place for an item that is often looked for or finding an engaging activity they enjoy to shift their focus.ā£

What an amazing day we had! Beamish is definitely a must-visit. We're so grateful for the accessible bus that was available on request to help transport our gents with chairs. So many wonderful memories made and fun had by everyone! šŸ¤©šŸ„³

June's Contact Point will be closed on June 20th to allow the Youth Cafe team to prepare for the open day. Denholme's Dementia Hub will proceed with a slightly earlier finish time. We encourage you to visit and discover what the youth cafe in Denholme has to offer, including a cake stall, refreshments, and a tombola. Dementia is an umbrella term for many different forms of dementia. We are aware that this can lead to confusion eg ā€œdementia can lead to Alzheimerā€™sā€
Please see the attached which lists 10 forms of dementia. If you have any concerns please drop in to see us at Keighley Library on a Wednesday between 11:00am and 2:00 pm or contact us to make an appointment
