🎲 Who knew a game of dominoes could get so competitive? πŸ˜„

Our residents had a fantastic afternoon enjoying a lively game of dominoes, with plenty of laughter, friendly rivalry and lots of cheering each other on along the way!

Games like this are about much more than winning. Dominoes encourages concentration, memory, problem-solving and hand-eye coordination, while bringing everyone together for a good chat and plenty of fun. It's also a wonderful way to build friendships, boost confidence and keep minds active.

The best part is seeing everyone celebrating each other's great moves and enjoying every minute together.

We think it's safe to say dominoes will be making another appearance very soon! πŸ’™

πŸŽ‰ Happy 65th Birthday, Susan! πŸŽ‚πŸ’–

There was a real party atmosphere at Cooper House as we celebrated Susan's 65th birthday!

Her room was decorated with balloons and banners; she received a birthday card from everyone at the home, and a beautiful birthday cake was waiting for her. πŸŽ‚πŸŽˆ

The best part of the day, though, was seeing Susan surrounded by her family and close friends. Birthdays are all about being with the people who matter most, sharing laughter, making memories and feeling loved – and that's exactly what the day was all about.

At Cooper House, we love welcoming families into the home. Whether it's for a birthday, an afternoon tea or simply popping in for a chat, those moments help make our home feel just that... a home. ❀️

A huge thank you to Susan's family for helping make her day so special, and to our wonderful team for making sure she enjoyed every minute of being the birthday girl!

From everyone at Cooper House, we wish Susan a very happy birthday and many more wonderful celebrations to come. πŸ₯‚πŸŽ‰

β˜€οΈ What a fantastic Summer Fair! πŸŽ‰

A huge thank you to everyone who came along, supported us, volunteered, performed, donated or hosted a stall. It was wonderful to see our residents, families and local community enjoying such a brilliant day together.

Special thanks to Chapel House, The Bottomley Arms, Shelf, Tesco Great Horton and Bradford City AFC for their generous support, and of course to Billy Bantam, who brought smiles to children and adults alike! πŸ’›β€οΈ

A big shout out to our talented chef Naomi Whittaker for the delicious homemade treats, and to Emma Hailey for keeping everyone entertained throughout the day.

Most of all, thank you to our incredible team and volunteers. Events like these don't happen without lots of hard work, and we're so grateful to everyone who helped make the day such a success.

Here's a look back at some of our favourite moments... πŸ“ΈπŸ’™

πŸ’›β€οΈ Billy Bantam certainly stole the show! β€οΈπŸ’›

There were plenty of smiles at our Summer Fair when a very special guest came to visit... Billy Bantam!

From high fives and cuddles to posing for photos with children, residents and families, Billy brought so much fun and laughter to the day. It was lovely to see everyone, whatever their age, getting involved and enjoying the excitement.

A huge thank you to Bradford City AFC for kindly lending us Billy and helping make our Summer Fair one to remember. He was a real hit from the moment he arrived!

Events like these are so important. They bring our residents, families and local community together, creating happy memories and reminding everyone that our care homes are very much part of the communities they serve.

Thank you to everyone who came along and made it such a fantastic day. We loved seeing so many familiar faces and hope you enjoyed it as much as we did! πŸ’™

πŸ‘‘ A very special delivery arrived at Cooper House today! βœ‰οΈπŸ’™

A little while ago, we sent a birthday card to His Majesty King Charles III to celebrate his Official Birthday.

The beautiful artwork on the front of the card was created by our talented resident Michael, who was so proud that his design had been chosen.

Well... today we received a wonderful surprise!

A letter arrived from Buckingham Palace, thanking everyone at Cooper House for our thoughtful birthday wishes.

Needless to say, Michael was absolutely delighted! Seeing his artwork recognised by the Royal Household made his day, and he couldn't wait to hold the letter for a photograph.

We'll now be proudly displaying the letter, alongside our other Royal cards, in reception for residents, families and visitors to enjoy.

It's amazing how one thoughtful gesture can create such a special memory.

Well done, Michaelβ€”we're all so proud of you! β€οΈπŸ‡¬πŸ‡§

We often say that if you want to understand someone, look at what they do when they don't have to.

Take Vicky Taylor at Cooper House.

Most people know Vicky because Cooper House has become one of Bradford's go-to care homes. Residents adore her, families trust her and professionals regularly tell us what a well-run home it is. She throws herself into everything – whether that's creating meaningful experiences for residents, building relationships with veterans, getting local businesses involved or making sure the home is part of its community rather than simply sitting in it.

Then you discover that's exactly how she lives her life.

She trains in karate four or five times a week, is already an international gold medallist, has now been appointed England Team Captain for the ICO International Combat Organisation Championships in France this October, helps run Cleckheaton Sport Karate Club, mentors young people, supports personal protection courses... and somehow still finds time for Northern Soul.

You soon realise the medals aren't really the story.

The story is discipline. It's commitment. It's encouraging other people to be the very best they can be.

Whether she's helping two young members of her club become its first Club Leaders, supporting veterans, leading a team of care professionals or making someone's day a little brighter at Cooper House, the approach never changes.

She simply gives everything she's got.

Sometimes people ask what makes a great care home manager.

It's hard to teach that kind of energy.

Fortunately for Strong Life Care Vicky brings it with her every single day.

Congratulations on becoming England Team Captain, Vicky. It's thoroughly deserved, and we're incredibly proud to have you on the Strong Life Care team.

Everyone has a life worth celebrating.

πŸŽ‰ Sharing Kindness Through Creativity πŸŽ‰

Last week, some of our talented residents at Cooper House Care Home took part in colouring a selection of possible birthday card designs. After much admiration, the beautiful design created by Susan was chosen to become a very special birthday card.

The finished card was delivered to Frank at his nursing home in Huddersfield to help celebrate his 92nd birthday. Frank was absolutely delighted and deeply touched by the thoughtful surprise.

He asked us to pass on his heartfelt thanks to everyone at Cooper House for thinking of him on his special day. πŸ’›

It was a wonderful opportunity to brighten someone's birthday and a lovely reminder that kindness, friendship, and thoughtful gestures can reach far beyond our own home.

From everyone at Cooper House Care Home, we wish Frank a very Happy 92nd Birthday! πŸŽ‚πŸŽˆπŸŽ

🎢 Thursday 23rd July – A Fantastic Morning of Music! 🎢

Today, our residents at Cooper House Care Home enjoyed a wonderful live concert in the Windsor Lounge with the talented Peter Woodward – Woody the Stringman. 🎸🎀

The morning was filled with music, laughter, and smiles as everyone sang along to well-loved classics, joined in with percussion instruments, and even got up for a dance! It was a truly uplifting and entertaining experience, creating special memories for everyone who attended.

A huge thank you to Woody for another fantastic performance and for bringing so much joy and energy to our home. We always look forward to welcoming him back for another memorable morning of music! πŸ’™

πŸŽΆπŸ’™ There was plenty of toe-tapping, singing and even a few dance moves at Cooper House this week!

What started as a singalong soon became a full-on dance party, with residents enjoying favourite songs, clapping along and sharing lots of laughs together.

Not everyone wanted to get up and dance, and that's absolutely fine. Some were happy singing from their chairs, others clapped along to the beat, while a few simply enjoyed watching the smiles around the room. That's what person-centred activities are all about – everyone joining in in their own way.

Music has an amazing way of unlocking memories, lifting our mood and bringing people together. A familiar tune can spark conversations, encourage movement, reduce anxiety and help people reconnect with moments from their lives. It's often the simplest activities that have the biggest impact.

More importantly, afternoons like this are about friendship. Spending time together, sharing a laugh and enjoying each other's company helps tackle loneliness and creates a real sense of belonging.

Judging by the smiles (and the requests for "just one more song!"), we'd say it was another successful afternoon at Cooper House! 🎡❀️
