Evoking Health

Evoking Health Empowering Mind and Body to help people create and maintain new healthy habits for a healthier life I am also a BPS Accredited Clinical Supervisor.

Hello, I’m Dr Neesha Patel, and I am the Founder of Evoking Health. I am a Health Psychologist registered with the Health Care Professionals Council (HCPC) and a Chartered Psychologist registered with the British Psychological Society (BPS). I have over 15 years’ experience of working in the health psychology field, and with a range of diverse populations. Since qualifying in 2014, I have worked a

s a Lead Health Psychologist in an NHS Trust, a Clinical Lead in an NHS funded Specialist Adult Weight Management Services and provided guest lectures to masters students. I have experience of providing advice, support, education, and training to healthcare professionals on the psychological aspects of health behaviour change, in particular the management of diabetes both within the South Asian community and wider populations. I have featured on various media outlets (BBC 1 News, radio, and newspaper articles) and international conferences to talk about psychological aspects of health and wellbeing. I am an author of several peer-review journal articles and an author of a chapter in the new book Health Psychology in Clinical Practice. Despite revolutions and advances in scientific research today, people are still struggling to access the healthcare services and psychological support that they need to change their lifestyle behaviours and/or manage their health and wellbeing. Many people try to make changes independently or often with some support of a healthcare professional but usually once there is a diagnosis of a long-term health condition such as Type 2 diabetes, heart disease, cholesterol and obesity. Evoking Health provides a bespoke holistic approach and integrates both the mind and body to fully understand people’s needs. My mission is to provide people with the psychological support they need to feel empowered to either live with a long-term health condition, and/or create healthy habits to live a healthy and fulfilling life and in doing so try to prevent the onset on of lifestyle conditions such as Type 2 diabetes and obesity. Please see my website for more information and to book an appointment.

Not enough people are talking about this 👇

People with a history of eating disorders are twice as likely to be using GLP-1s.

This is not a criticism of them.

It’s a criticism of a system that hands out medication without ever asking why someone’s relationship with food developed the way it did in the first place.

If you’re in that group, this isn’t about you doing something wrong. It’s a screening gap that should exist and almost certainly doesn’t.

Make sure to hit follow if this is something you’ve never been asked about, and you’re wondering whether it applies to you.

3 things I wouldn’t recommend doing if you’re on GLP1s & want to achieve long term weight loss.

Follow if you are on a GLP-1 and want your results to last beyond the injection.

Do natural alternatives to GLP-1 medications actually work?

The honest answer is more nuanced than the internet is making it.

Some of the things being talked about do have evidence behind them.

But the gap between the evidence and the marketing is significant.

So if natural approaches are something you are exploring, go in with clear expectations about what the evidence actually supports rather than what the wellness industry is claiming.

And whichever approach someone takes, medication, natural alternatives or both, the question I always return to is the same.

👉 What is happening psychologically alongside it?

Because none of these approaches change the emotional patterns underneath the eating. That work is separate. And it is the part that determines whether anything actually lasts.

Follow for the balanced, evidence-based take on GLP-1s that the algorithm is not always surfacing.

The crash diet is back… It just comes in a pen now.

Stopping before the holiday.
Restarting after.
Stopping before the wedding.

The cycle looks different but the psychology underneath it is identical. And every restart makes the belief a little stronger that you cannot do this without it.

That is the part nobody is talking about.

Hit follow if you want the honest version of this conversation.

I grew up watching the system treat my father’s biology and ignore everything else.

He never had anyone ask how he was actually doing. Not his numbers. Him.

He died far too young.

That experience is behind everything I build.

My research, clinical work, programme and content. All of it.

If you have ever watched someone you love fall through the gaps in the care they deserved, just know I can relate and I understand you 🤍
