🌞 A LITTLE CLINIC TIME OUT… 🌞

The clinic will be closed for a little summer break next week while I take some much-needed time off with my two little ones. 💛

As much as I absolutely love what I do, I also believe in practising what I preach — making time to rest, recharge and enjoy the people who matter most. 🥰

📅 Clinic closed:
Tuesday 25th August – Friday 28th August

📅 Back open:
Tuesday 1st September

I’ll be taking a proper break from clinic life for a few days, so messages and enquiries may take a little longer to respond to. 📱

Thank you, as always, for your continued support and for keeping my little business so busy. I can’t wait to see you all when I’m back! 👣💜

In the meantime, I’m swapping my podiatry shoes for my mum shoes! 😂👟

Take care of your feet,
Michelle x

🎒👟 BACK TO SCHOOL SHOE SHOPPING? HERE’S MY PODIATRIST’S CHECKLIST…

With the summer holidays flying by, many of us are starting to think about new school shoes.

And as a podiatrist, one of the questions I often hear is:
“What should I actually be looking for in a children’s school shoe?”

The good news is that you don’t necessarily need to spend a fortune or choose a particular brand.

For me, it’s all about FIT, COMFORT & FUNCTION.

When you’re shopping, look for:
👣 Enough room for the toes — they shouldn’t be squeezed together.
📏 The correct length AND width — don’t rely solely on the size printed inside the shoe.
👟 A secure heel — the shoe shouldn’t constantly slip off.
🦶 Appropriate flexibility — children need to be able to move naturally.
🧦 Comfortable socks — avoid bunching, tightness or seams causing pressure.
🔎 Regular checks — children’s feet grow, so a shoe that fitted beautifully in September may not still be suitable several months later.

And remember, a higher price tag doesn’t automatically mean a better shoe.

There are budget-friendly options available too — what matters most is how the individual shoe fits your child’s foot.

My biggest piece of advice?
If you’re buying new school shoes, get your child’s feet measured and have the shoes properly fitted wherever possible.

And once they’re back at school, keep an eye out for complaints of foot pain, rubbing, blisters, red marks or changes in how they’re walking. These can all be signs that something needs a closer look.

I’ve put together a full Back to School Children’s Shoe Guide in the carousel — so save this post for when you’re out shopping! 🎒👟

If you’re concerned about your child’s feet, footwear or walking pattern, your podiatrist can help.

Take care of your feet,
Michelle x

✨ Three years of Bailey Podiatry & Reflexology ✨

Today marks three years since I opened the doors to Bailey Podiatry & Reflexology… and what an incredible journey it has been.

When I took the leap into running my own clinic, I had a vision of creating a welcoming space where patients felt listened to, cared for and supported with evidence-informed, patient-centred treatment. Three years on, I still feel incredibly grateful that I get to do exactly that every single day.

Over the past three years, the clinic has grown in so many ways. I’ve had the privilege of meeting and treating hundreds of wonderful patients, expanded the services I offer, invested in new equipment and technology, continued my professional development, and celebrated countless patient successes—from pain-free first steps to healed ulcers, reconstructed nails and improved mobility.

No two days are ever the same, and that’s one of the things I love most about my profession.

Running a small business isn’t always easy. There have been challenges, long days, plenty of learning curves and moments of self-doubt, but every challenge has helped me grow—not just as a business owner, but as a clinician too.

To every patient who has chosen Bailey Podiatry & Reflexology, thank you for placing your trust in me. Whether you’ve visited once or have been with me since the beginning, your support means more than words can say.

Thank you also to my family, friends, colleagues and fellow healthcare professionals who have encouraged me, supported me and celebrated every milestone along the way. Your kindness and belief in me have made this journey possible.

As I also celebrate 10 years as a qualified podiatrist this year, I’m reminded just how much there is still to learn. I’m excited for the future, continuing to develop my skills, embracing new technologies, and providing the very best care I can for our community.

Here’s to the next chapter—and thank you for being part of the journey. 💜

Take care of your feet,
Michelle x

✨ Damaged nail? You don’t always have to hide it. ✨

This transformation shows a toenail reconstruction using a specialist medical-grade gel to restore the appearance of a nail that has been damaged by a fungal nail infection.

While the reconstruction creates an immediate cosmetic improvement, it’s important to remember that it doesn’t treat the fungal infection itself. Instead, it provides a protective, natural-looking nail while your healthy nail continues to grow underneath alongside appropriate fungal nail management.

Healthy toenails grow slowly, so patience is key. Depending on the individual, it can take 12–18 months for a big toenail to grow through completely. Throughout that time, regular reviews and appropriate treatment help support healthy nail growth and monitor progress.

👣 This treatment is ideal for patients who:
✔️ Feel self-conscious about the appearance of a damaged nail.
✔️ Have a nail that has been partially lost through trauma or fungal infection.
✔️ Want a natural-looking nail while waiting for healthy regrowth.

Every nail is different, which is why an assessment is always carried out first to ensure reconstruction is suitable for you.

If you’re struggling with a damaged or fungal toenail and would like to explore your treatment options, I’d be happy to help.

Take care of your feet,
Michelle x

✨ 10 years. 10 lessons ✨

As I celebrate 10 years since qualifying as a podiatrist, I’ve been reflecting on everything this profession has taught me.

Some lessons came from textbooks and training. Others came from wonderful patients, supportive colleagues, mentors, and experiences that have shaped me both professionally and personally.

One thing I know for certain is that learning never stops. Every patient, every challenge and every success has made me a better clinician.

Thank you to everyone who has been part of this journey—especially my patients, who place their trust in me every single day. It is a privilege I never take for granted.

I’d love to know if you have anything to add to the mix do leave a comment and which lesson resonates with you the most?

Take care of your feet,
Michelle x

👣 Heel pain isn’t just something you have to “put up with.”

If every morning starts with painful first steps, or you’re finding it difficult to enjoy your usual walks, my latest blog explains the most common causes of heel pain, why it’s not always plantar fasciitis, and how podiatry can help.

🎶 A little clinic update for this afternoon... 🎶

Bailey Podiatry & Reflexology will be closing from 1:00pm today as I’ll be swapping my clinic tunic for concert attire! 🎼

This evening I’ll be singing with Brampton Chamber Choir in our Choral Dreams Summer Concert at St Martin’s Church, Brampton, starting at 7:30pm.

Singing has always been a passion of mine and, alongside caring for my wonderful patients, music is something that brings me so much joy. It’s a real privilege to be part of such a talented choir and to perform in our local community.

If you’re looking for something to do this evening, we’d love to see you there!

Thank you, as always, for your understanding while the clinic closes a little earlier today.

Some days remind you exactly why you love what you do. 💐

I was completely taken by surprise when a lovely patient gifted me these beautiful flowers yesterday. Such a thoughtful and unexpected gesture that truly brightened my day.

It is a privilege to be trusted with your foot health, and I never take that trust for granted. Knowing that the care I provide has made a positive difference means more than words can say.

To all of my wonderful patients—thank you for your continued support, kindness, and for allowing me to be part of your healthcare journey. It really is the little things that make this profession so rewarding. 💜

Take care of your feet,
Michelle x
