Giving back to our local communities ๐Ÿ’™

Being an active part of the communities around our homes is important to us at RCH Care Homes โ€“ and sometimes that means finding a new purpose for something we no longer need.

Our team at Brentwood Care Centre recently donated a large selection of furniture to the Lighthouse Furniture Project , a fantastic local charity supporting families and individuals in need with essential furniture and household items.

The donation will now be put to good use in homes across the local area, while giving the furniture a second life too. โ™ป๏ธ

We're proud to support organisations doing valuable work within the communities our homes are part of, and a big thank you goes to the Lighthouse Furniture Project team for everything they do locally. โค๏ธ

With the temperature rising, Withens Nursing Home has been finding some rather more interesting ways to keep everyone hydrated.

Fresh fruit, juices, herbs and plenty of ice have been appearing on the drinks menu, including a refreshing iced watermelon punch. Residents have also been trying their hand at mixology, designing their own mocktails and deciding which combinations deserve another round. ๐Ÿน

Choosing the fruit, smelling the fresh herbs, seeing the different colours and mixing everything together gets the senses involved before anyone has even taken their first sip.

Of course, every creation then needs to be taste-tested โ€“ purely in the interests of quality control!

Staying hydrated is particularly important during hot weather, and Withens has certainly found a colourful way of keeping the drinks flowing. โ˜€๏ธ๐Ÿ’™

Feel Good Friday... and we couldn't resist sharing this one. ๐Ÿ’™

Every care home has its regular visitors... but we'd argue Brentwood Care Centre has one of the best.

When the favourite postie calls in, it's rarely just a delivery. This time, it turned into an impromptu dance with receptionist Sheron to the Spice Girls โ€“ and judging by the response on Brentwood's page, it made a lot of people smile too. ๐Ÿ“ฎ๐ŸŽถ

It's a lovely snapshot of everyday life in our homes. The friendships built with local people, the warm welcomes and the moments of fun that can't be planned are all part of what makes each of our homes unique.

Happy Feel Good Friday! โค๏ธ

Our General Managers and Head Housekeepers recently came together for a brilliant training day with Blueleaf Care

The session focused on cleaning products, chemical treatment machines and the standard operating procedures that help our teams work safely, confidently and consistently across our homes.

Housekeeping is so much more than keeping our homes looking their best. It plays a vital role in creating clean, safe and welcoming environments where residents can feel comfortable and families can have confidence in the care we provide.

It was also a fantastic opportunity for colleagues from across RCH Care Homes to share ideas, learn from one another and take away new knowledge to use in their own homes.

A big thank you to Blueleaf Care for such an informative day, and to all of our General Managers and Head Housekeepers for their commitment to learning and continually improving the experience of our residents. ๐Ÿ’™

Breakfast is served... and everyone's welcome! โ˜•

One of our favourite monthly events takes place on the last Friday of every month at Romford Care Homeโ€” their wonderful Breakfast Club! ๐Ÿ’™

The event has become a real favourite with local key workers, Blue Light responders and health and social care professionals from across Romford and Havering, who pop in to enjoy a bacon butty, a hot drink and some great conversation.

But perhaps the people who love it most are the residents, who proudly help host the morning, welcoming guests, sharing stories from their own lives and making new friendships along the way.

These breakfasts are about so much more than delicious food. They bring people together, strengthen community connections and celebrate the relationships that make our homes such special places to live, work and visit.

Happy International Friendship Day!

Friendships make life brighter at every age. They make us smile, help us through difficult times and create memories that last a lifetime.

๐Ÿพ And, of course, the joy and companionship our very special furry friends bring to everyone they meet!

These meaningful connections are an important part of life across all our homes, helping to create welcoming communities where everyone feels valued, included and connected.

Today, we're celebrating every friendship, old and new, that makes RCH Care Homes such special places to live, work and visit.

Happy International Friendship Day from all of us! ๐Ÿ’™

Romford Care Home's annual Charity Car Wash has done it againโ€ฆ and this year was the biggest yet!

Together, residents, team members, families, friends and the local community:
โœจ Washed over 60 cars
โœจ Raised an incredible ยฃ500
โœจ Supported the amazing work of the Havering Dementia Action Alliance

We were also delighted to welcome Lesley and Karen from the Havering Dementia Action Alliance, along with a special visit from the Mayor of Havering, Councillor Maggie Themistocli, who came along to support everyone taking part.

This event has become a much-loved tradition at Romford Care Home, bringing people together each year to raise awareness of dementia, support a fantastic local charity and strengthen connections within the community.

A huge thank you to everyone who volunteered, donated and came along to support the day. Together, you've helped make a real difference! ๐Ÿ’™

Sunshine, riverside views and seaside treats โ€“ Brentwood Care Centre is giving us all the Friday and weekend vibes!

Residents recently enjoyed a wonderful trip to Maldon, beginning with a relaxing stroll around Promenade Park and time spent watching the boats sail gently by.

After working up an appetite, everyone enjoyed a delicious lunch at The Queenโ€™s Head, followed by ice cream and freshly made doughnuts โ€“ the perfect ending to a lovely day out together!

A huge congratulations to our incredible Head Chef, Julie Clark! ๐ŸŒŸ๐Ÿ‘ฉโ€๐Ÿณ

Yesterday, Julie proudly represented Park View Care Centre in the semi-finals of the NACC Chef of the Year competition.

Over the past few weeks, Julie has been creating and perfecting her competition menu, with the help of some very willing taste testersโ€”our wonderful residents and team at Park View! ๐Ÿ’™

While we're incredibly proud of Julie's competition journey, what makes this recognition so special is that it's a reflection of what she does every single day.

From carefully planning nutritious menus to creating beautifully presented meals and memorable dining experiences, Julie puts the same care, passion and attention into every plate she serves.

Julie, this recognition is so well deserved. Everyone across RCH Care Homes is incredibly proud of you, and we're wishing you every success ! ๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿ’™
