Part-Time Funeral Operations Role

We are looking for a reliable, compassionate and professional individual to join our funeral operations team.

This is a flexible part-time position of approximately two days per week, around 16 hours, with the opportunity to work additional hours depending on business needs.

The successful applicant must be physically and emotionally resilient, as the role can be demanding. You will also be required to participate in an on-call rota.

Duties will include assisting with funeral services, preparing vehicles and equipment, supporting the care and transfer of the deceased, and helping to ensure the smooth day-to-day running of our funeral services.

Applicants must be respectful, dependable, well presented and able to work calmly and professionally in a sensitive environment. A full UK driving licence is desirable.

Previous experience in the funeral industry is essential. Applicants must have relevant experience and a professional understanding of funeral operations.

Looking into our local history… The Lost Town of Kenfig 🏘️

As part of our journey into the history of our local area, we’ve been looking into the story of Kenfig, the medieval town that was eventually lost beneath the shifting sands of the Kenfig dunes.

We’ve put together a few things we’ve found online about what life in the town may have been like, from its busy trading streets and market square, to the tradespeople, laws, businesses and buildings that once made up this thriving medieval community.

There are some fascinating stories here, including the town’s streets, its port, the old St James’s Church, and the laws that were supposedly in place to keep the town in order!

But a little disclaimer: this is information we’ve found online during our initial research, and we’re not claiming that every detail is 100% accurate or historically verified. We’re sharing it as a starting point while we dig a little deeper and try to separate the historical record from the stories that have grown around Kenfig over the years.

If a death was expected, for example following an illness or due to old age, there are certain steps you can take and people you may need to contact.

If a death was unexpected, the procedure is different and you may need to involve the emergency services, a doctor or the police before a funeral director can take your loved one into our care.
