Over one in ten children across England remain at risk of catching measles without both doses of the MMR or MMRV vaccine.

Important Contraception Update for Our Patients

We would like to make patients aware of updated guidance regarding the duration of use for certain long-acting reversible contraceptives (LARC).

✅ Nexplanon® Implant
The contraceptive implant is now licensed to provide contraception for up to 5 years (previously 3 years).

✅ Mirena® Coil (IUS)
When used for contraception only, the Mirena coil is now licensed for up to 8 years in most women.

Please note that replacement timings may differ if your implant or coil is being used for:
• Heavy or painful periods
• Hormone Replacement Therapy (HRT)
• Other gynaecological reasons

📋 The attached information sheets explain what these changes mean and when replacement may still be needed.

📞 If you are unsure when your implant or coil was fitted, why it was fitted, or whether you need a review, please contact the practice for advice.
