Fat Bloke Gets Fit

Fat Bloke Gets Fit One man's quest to go from 100 kilo plus diabetic and unfit to someone who can move around like he was 20(ish) again One day you’re diagnosed as diabetic.

I suppose my story is not unlike a lot of other middle-aged, middle-class guys that just let things go. Too much food and drink, not enough exercise and bam! By letter, but that’s another story. Then follows a period of denial where you take the pills and pretend you can live a normal life. Normal that is, you take the pills they give you and you think that protects you from developing other sympt

oms. The scare tactics don’t help, they tell you you’ll go blind and your limbs will fall off if you get type 2 diabetes. Whilst that is a possibility if you ignore all the advice completely, it’s in no way a certainty. One day however, you do start slowly developing symptoms. Tiredness is a giveaway, no matter how much sleep you get, you’re still tired. The first time you’re feet go numb is scary. But more of that later. This is my journey from being overweight, inflexible, diabetic 50-something back to health and well-being. It is not “what you should do”, it is my path. I will have to adjust it along the way, but I’m determined to make it work.

It’s not rocket science, take care of your carbs and the numbers go back to normal.

Oh yeah?

University of Southern Denmark study, based on tests of 70,500 people, shows 14 drinks a week for men and 9 for women fend off diabetes - though gin and vodka worsen chances against disease.

I haven't been here for a while because I damaged my knee. It still isn't 100% but I've been guilt tripped into coming back by a mate who's lost 25 kilos.

I only need to lose 15.

Respect.
