To take advantage of the wonderful weather we have had at the coast recently, we went on a mini outing down to our local Ice-cream Parlour "Love Gelato" on the promenade. It was so relaxing to sit and watch the sea whilst people passed by with their dogs and children. There were also the familiar sounds of the Land Train and the seagulls overhead. The best bit of the afternoon was enjoying an ice-cream or a coffee with great company before we headed back home.

Our Lifestyle Team have been busy creating some fun activities to engage Mind, Body & Soul.

This week we had fun with our Photobooth dress up activity, we had an afternoon of culture watching Andre Rieu while tasting cheese and wine, and for some much-needed hydration we made our own mocktails!

We also had a try at archery which was tricky at first, but we all soon got the hang of it!

Recently we went to our local Bondville Model Village in Sewerby! It was a lovely day to walk up to the attraction, getting some sunshine and fresh air on the way. The Village even has a model of White Rose Lodge! After having a stroll and completing a tricky quiz about the models, we relaxed in their picnic area with a tasty lunch and some refreshing drinks. Everyone had a great time and would recommend going again

It was the perfect opportunity to grab some fresh fish and chips on the promenade last week, whilst enjoying the glorious sunshine and salty sea air near the beach. We walked along the promenade to spot people walking their dogs and seeing those brave enough to paddle in the sea. It was a great moment shared for the two ladies, who finished off their experience with a cool ice-cream!

To say a big thank you to our Home Manager Nicky, we held a disco party to celebrate. Lots of staff members and those living with us were invited to attend and enjoy a delicious buffet from the kitchen after boogying on down to some 70's classics. Nicky was presented with some gifts and a speech was made by Regional Director Ash.

We are lucky to have a local animal park within 15 minutes' drive of the home which is ideal for the Myley bus. We had three people living with us, assisted by staff and family, visiting the park to see many exotic animals and birds.

They had macaws, flamingos, raccoons, arctic foxes, camels, reindeer and meerkats to name a few! We enjoyed a picnic lunch sat in the sunshine, surrounded by beautiful peacocks. We also saw a bird of prey display where they fly different birds and explain all about them. Lastly, we had chance to feed horses, donkeys and goats before heading back home in time for a cuppa.

Here at White Rose Lodge, we have been taking advantage of the fantastic weather with our Gardening Club! Sat out under the marquee in our sea-view garden provides the perfect shade for outdoor activities such as planting lavender and lobelia. We have also started our own "herb kitchen" with popular plants such as mint, basil and rosemary, which can be used in our chef's dishes. Let's hope the sunshine continues so we can do more activities in the fresh air!

"To celebrate Carers Week, we had a presentation for the staff members at White Rose Lodge with goody bags, some sweet treats and a big thank you! It also coincided with our recent CQC rating of "Good" overall for the home which is a fantastic achievement and something that we can all be proud of".

It was a lovely afternoon spent at the Theatre for two ladies who live with us at White Rose Lodge. Our local amateur theatre, Spotlight, runs a dementia-friendly screening each month and on this occasion we saw Hans Christian Anderson!

It was a delightful film filled with songs performed by Danny Kaye. Our ladies had a great time and had More...Fresh Air too whilst out and about in the town.
