Helping people become the person they turn to first. Pause: Ask: Listen: Choose

13/08/2026

A question asked at the start of our in-person day that I very quickly put my hand up and said no to...

Do you consider yourself creative?

Absolutely not. Never have been. Don’t attempt to be.

Then Sophie said, “You’ve got 10 minutes to write a poem...”

OFFS.

I spent what felt like 9 of those 10 minutes staring out of the window, convinced I had absolutely nothing to say.

Then I just thought...

F**k it.

Just write. See what comes out.

Within a few minutes, I was giggling at myself and my ridiculous attempts to rhyme (which, for some reason, I thought was the only way to write a poem).

Will I be publishing a poetry book? Absolutely not.

Was I proud of what I created? 100%.

It reminded me of something I think we all forget.

So much of what we create doesn’t come from trying harder.

It comes from letting go.

From trusting ourselves enough to stop overthinking.

From having a bit of fun instead of trying to get everything right.

Thats why so many of us feel stuck.

We’re waiting until we know we’ll be good at something before we even let ourselves begin.

What if the best things you’ve got inside you are waiting for the moment you stop trying to impress anyone and simply enjoy the process?

❤️Do you consider yourself creative?

This might not seem like a big deal, but as soon as the words left my mouth, I immediately regretted it.

I was on a wellbeing panel at Latitude in the and when I was asked to introduce myself by I did.

I talked about being a coach and a Breathwork facilitator and then, for some reason, I finished with, “And that’s it.”

I immediately felt like I had devalued what I do. Like being a coach and Breathwork facilitator somehow wasn’t enough, even though that wasn’t my intention at all.

I really had to work hard to pull myself back in that moment and remind myself that it didn’t matter. I’d said it. It was done. I needed to let it go, stay present and listen to the conversation so I could respond to the next question.

It’s so easy to lose ourselves in our words, our expectations and the pressure we put on ourselves to say exactly the right thing.

But ultimately, what I needed to hear in that moment wasn’t criticism. I needed encouragement.

A reminder that I’ve got this. That I believe in you.

So, as frustrated as I was about those two words, I was still able to check back in with myself, take a breath and give myself the encouragement I needed to finish the rest of the session.

We’re not going to get everything right and that’s ok but knowing how to come back to yourself when you don’t is where your power is.

How do you feel when you say something you didn’t want to?

Yes Roy Kent!!

When you haven’t experienced that kind of love, someone telling you “you deserve better” can sound like a fairytale.

I sent this clip to one of my clients recently and she replied, “Does that actually happen?”

I get it, before I met my Alex, I’d have wondered the same thing.

There’s a lot of advice out there telling you to manifest the relationship, create a new identity or try to feel now how you’ll feel when this person finally arrives.

I didn’t do any of that.

I trusted that the love I wanted was coming, then I let the go of trying to control how or when.

I had fun. I built a life I loved and poured all that energy I’d been putting into finding someone back into me.

When I became the person I turned to first a few months later I met Alex.

So yes, I agree with Roy.

Don’t you dare settle for fine.

But maybe stop making finding someone else the project.

Pour that energy back into you.

Make you the project.

Drop a ⚡️in the comments if you believe that kind of love exists.

So excited to be part of the Mind Body & Zen team this year at Latitude, only a few days to go!

💚Come and find me at Zen Den on Saturday: 2pm for a 20 minute choose you breathwork session. Think softness, devotion and space to come home and let go.

🩷I am also running an extended 50 minute session: 4.30pm on Saturday in the Zen Den - think of it as a power up and reset breathwork session for those that will need a little reboot at this stage in the festival. Leave lit up, loved up and alive.

❤️At 2pm on Sunday I am on a panel with host Mandy Manners and fellow panelists Louisa Kiernander and Gayatri Rachel Anderson on the Zen Den Stage.

We’re talking about how we can create calm amongst the chaos. I am going to be sharing what brings me calm using my ‘become the person you turn to first’ framework and I can’t wait to hear what the others share.

💚Lastly I am closing the Heart bus on Sunday at 5pm for a lovely long hug breathwork session, for those that need a little time out, ‘love me’ reboot to take them through the final evening of the festival.

Drop a heart in the comments in you’re going to be at Latitude this year.
