What is the difference between lack of motivation and burnout?

I didn’t feel it in the gym today.

❌ Didn’t feel strong
❌ Didn’t feel the energy boost
❌ Didn’t feel that the workout was ‘doing anything’ (apart from making me sweat)

I kept going. I did my reps, my sets and completed my workout.

And that’s perfectly fine.

I know that next time I’m back at the gym, I’ll be fine again.

That’s lack of motivation.

So how does it feel when you start to burn out?

Exactly as above, but when it’s not just today. Not just this week. Not just this month.

Some days might be better than others.

But in general there isn’t a spark anymore. It’s a slog, day in and day out.

If you have reached that point – at work, in your exercise routine, or with a hobby – it's time to look at the bigger picture and at the patterns that are driving you.

If you would like some help with that, let me know.

Reasons why I walk. Part 1 of 4: The Physical Body.

Walking after a meal isn't just a nice habit.
It helps bring my blood sugar down instead of letting it spike.
So sometimes I walk on purpose, straight after eating.

My hips loosen.
My shoulders drop from somewhere near my ears.
Blood moves. Joints remember what they're for.

I don't walk to hit a step count.
I walk because my body asks for it.
And I've learned to actually listen.

Sometimes getting unstuck starts with one foot in front of the other.
Part 2: The Emotional Body — next.

And sometimes you need to boost that energy to make it to the weekend…

I had a full-on week.

And I am properly tired.

Getting through the important bits on my list.

And I’m using it all to keep me going until the end of the day:

⚡ The Neom energy pen

⚡ The caffeine

⚡ The nap after lunch

⚡ The morning walk

⚡ The catch-up with a lovely friend by the water

And now it’s nearly time to log off.

One last conversation with a potential client about his fear of public speaking.

And then I’ll call it a day and a week.

I wish you all a lovely weekend! 😎

I’ve had a colour analysis done today which taught me so much more than what to wear 🌈

The wonderful Victoria Hamilton draped me in a myriad of colour swatches today.

And the result was ‘unexpected’ to say the least!

I was convinced for the last 30 years of my life that I was a summer colour type.

Well, I’m a soft autumn.

There are colours in that palette that I can’t deny look really good on me, which I hadn’t even considered until now.

Learning number 1️⃣ I ‘self-diagnosed’ as summer without ever consulting a professional.

Not a successful approach.

Learning number 2️⃣ I have gotten much warmer as a person in the last years. It’s about time to show that to the world.

We all change, and that’s good!

Learning number 3️⃣ I thought I knew exactly what I was doing and just wanted to iron out the details.

Looking at my wardrobe, I wasn’t too far off and certainly found a whole bunch of colours that look better on me than what I was wearing.

It’s from ‘looking ok’ to ‘that works really well’.

If you are looking for me, I’m either out shopping or on Vinted 👚👗💄

Ps: That earthy orange in the picture (it's not as bright as you see it) was my biggest surprise. I don't even remember the name of the colour. It's that far out of my normal range.

What would you cut if you could let go of it from today for the rest of your life?

Today (actually, from sunset last night until today’s sunset) is the ‘Muku moon’.

The clean cut 🗡️

It’s the last day in the moon cycle, which offers you the opportunity to let go of what happened in the last 30 days.

It isn’t a cut to kill, but like you prune the roses so they conserve the strength to grow more buds.

🗡️ Any resentment you built up

🗡️ Any habits you realised are no longer serving you

🗡️ Any belief you have carried for way too long

And yes, they can be way older than 30 days.

For me it was the last day of a 30-day-long process I went through to work on how I’m listening, to myself, to others, and to what’s happening around me.

And after all the release work and integration I had done I still had some anger to let go of.

Anger that came from ‘I’ve done it wrong’ (it was the process of the moon meditations).

It was a beautiful learning of understanding that processes aren’t meant to go ‘right or wrong.’

It’s a process, and it unfolds the way it does.

Not a new learning, and it sunk in on a deeper level.

So what do you want to cut today?

About cold-brew tea, summer and priorities…

It’s another hot day in the office.

It’s Monday, and the week is long.

It’s summer, and people don’t think about their fear of public speaking, so it’s quiet for me.

And that’s ok.

Not every day has to be peak performance.

Not every week has to be jam-packed.

And not every month has to be the most profitable of the year.

I’m taking it easy.

Having conversations around people who suffer from repeat burnout.

Do some client work.

Pick up only the most important and urgent bits from my to do list.

And am experimenting with all sorts of cold brew concoctions in the kitchen.

I’ll take those easy weeks until everyone is back in September ready to push on again.

Hypnotherapy de-mystified 🪄

I'd love to say it's magic, but it isn't and follows a pretty straightforward process.

In a nutshell 🥜

1. Consultation call to clarify if I can help and if we basically like each other enough to work together

2. Book the sessions (in most cases, it's two)

3. You fill out a questionnaire and I use said questionnaire to prepare

4. We do the sessions

5. You do your homework (I missed that in the video) and transform your life

Easy 😀

I was so convinced that I was doing the right thing that I didn’t notice that it was actually doing more harm than good.

That was me this weekend.

My right thigh (to be exact, my right quadriceps) hurt.

The left side was perfectly fine.

So I concluded that I injured it somehow without noticing it.

I couldn’t remember anything ‘happening’, but clearly something was wrong.

So I iced and rested, as you are told to do with an injury.

It didn’t get any better.

I shared my misery with my PT who replied: “Could it be DOMS?”

I didn’t do any single leg exercises, so why would only one leg be sore?

And as the icing still didn’t produce any results, I thought, “to the heck with it” and changed the approach (not really expecting any results).

So I put my massage cushion on it to give it a gentle massage and heat it.

And the pain reduced.

I was so hell-bound on it needing ice that I didn’t even consider anything else.

So if your approach doesn’t work and you are 100% convinced that it’s the right one, you might want to consider gently trying the opposite and see what happens.

Ps: If anyone ever successfully has taken a picture of their leg that looks decent, please let me know.

Have you ever worked with someone and didn't get the results you wanted?

Let's be honest: Have you actually done what they told you to do?

We had a glorious summer catch-up with Jodie Goodchild's Known for group this morning (including picnic).

And we got her incredible "Survive the Summer" plan for our social media.

And I solemnly swear that I'm up to no good... I mean, going to follow the plan!

So if my social media posts are going to look a little different for the next few weeks, it's because:

1️⃣ I'll just have some fun with it!
2️⃣ It might be too hot for my brain to write sensible sentences.
3️⃣ Whom the f**k said we'll have to have three bullet points in a list?

Let's have a fun summer together and to some more picnics in the sun (or shade)!

And if you are off on holidays and can't be bothered to look at your socials: Enjoy and see you in September!

Sometimes you just need to get the s**t done!

I was on a Ribbons networking call yesterday and had a chat with Helen Wray from the Wray Wellness Collective.

We talked about showing up on social media.

And had several realisations:

1️⃣ Sometimes you just need to get stuff out there even if the posts aren’t perfect (they often get the best engagement)

2️⃣ You have to find what works for you: And if that means that you write a week's worth of posts on Sunday evening, then that’s it!

3️⃣ And it’s perfectly ok to recycle a post: Look back at what you posted, take an old one and bring it ‘up to date’ and reuse it. A lot of people might not even have seen the original one.

I love excellence in what I do (you might remember my post about Kīnā‘ole) and just doing another small step is just as much excellence as taking the big leap and producing the ‘perfect’ thing.

Where will you take a small step in the right direction this week?

Ps: When you've taken a lot of small steps your shoes will look as worn and 'personalised' as mine 👟
