It makes me wonder if our capacity to consciously sense forces move through our body is what allows us to comprehend and contemplate what it is to move through life on a more metaphysical level.
Initiating and tracking a push force from my feet, through my pelvis into my upper body makes me reflect on the mirroring between my physical, psychological and spiritual experiences. Sometimes the pathway feels clear and continuous. Other times, tethered, stuck and clunky.
A core principle and value of somatic movement is the practice of curiosity within a soft framework that avoids rigidity and dogma. Noticing, observing with a wide, receptive, vigilant quality of attention, coupled with a sense of safety invites novelty, which is key to maintaining an adaptive healthy mind.
