Fully insured traditional Chinese medical acupuncturist and medical laser therapist. Monica Wing-Yan Bailey is a fully insured, licensed Acupuncturist, Aromatherapist. Her training began at home with her mother and grandmother teaching her herbal medicine, gua sha, and the energetic of food. With her strong interest in Chinese medicine, she decided to retrain to become an acupuncturist at her 30s.

She graduated from the University of Greenwich with Bachelor of Science Honour degree in Acupuncture, a practicing member of British Acupuncture Council and a member of Asia pacific Aromatherapy. She continued training with Taoist master Jeffrey C. Yuen for classical Acupuncture, aromatherapy and intensive training for reproductive oriental medicine and endocrinology. Monica specializes in treating women's health, hormonal disorder. She also treat other general health issues like chronic pain, digestive disorder, cancer recovery and mental health issues. Monica was born and raised in Hong Kong, have lived and worked in Australia, France and now settled with her family in Brighton and Hove, UK. She worked as a fashion merchandiser in Hong Kong before everything happen with her path being a healer. Her passion to help others come from her own journey, long-term stress, overtime working culture in Hong Kong brought her ill-health, that tipping point triggered her to pursue a more meaningful career. In practice, she uses her own experience as a mother, as well as her gentle touch and natural sensitivity to offer each patient an optimal setting for healing.

45% of the US population are deficient in magnesium, but this mineral is critical for mitochondrial function. ​🧬

Approximately 1/3 of the total magnesium found in a cell is located within the mitochondria, and low levels of magnesium have been shown to increase oxidative stress, encourage accelerated cell senescence and lead to poor mitochondrial function. ​

👉️ Magnesium rich foods include leafy greens, nuts and seeds (almonds, cashews, pumpkin seeds), avocado, bananas, brown rice, legumes and fatty fish like salmon–but recommendations for optimal intake are as high as 300mg (or more) of magnesium a day, which is when a high-quality magnesium supplement can be helpful.​

Did you know stress can travel across generations? ​⁠

A study on roundworms revealed that mitochondrial stress can be passed down, with descendants inheriting elevated levels of mitochondrial DNA. Essentially, cells may be carrying stress from past generations—50 times over.​ 🤯⁠

But there’s a silver lining: despite their inherited stress, these worms became more resilient and even lived longer. While this *is* a worm study, it suggests that our cells might have the potential to also carry generational stress.​ ⁠

For us humans, it’s a reminder to balance healthy stress that builds resilience with and managing everyday stress that can impact our well-being for a healthier, more resilient future.​⁠
