We’re thrilled to say we have new availability through our low-cost subsidised therapy scheme.

Funding is available for anyone living in Brighton & Hove who is unemployed, employed but earning less than the real living wage, and/or receiving state support such as benefits.

To access, book a low-cost initial consultation through our website (link in bio).

With a minimum contribution of £15 a session, you will be asked what you can afford to pay per week for therapy, and we aim to subsidise the rest so you can see an experienced and qualified therapist for up to 24 sessions!

Please note this is only available when we have sufficient charitable funds, and we do not operate a waiting list for this service.

A couple months ago came round to chat to us and some of our partnered charities about our Hope & Healing project - a service delivering fully funded therapy to people in East Sussex who have been affected by cancer.

This short clips shows Sophie, our Clinical & Communications officer, talking a bit about the impact this therapy has had on those who have accessed it.

You can watch the whole video through the link in our bio, including interviews with and 💚

What happens at an initial consultation for therapy?

Sometimes we put off starting because we don’t know what to expect, but an initial consultation is just a 50-minute appointment so you can share a bit about yourself and why you’re thinking about coming to therapy.

An experienced therapist will guide you through some questions about things like:

• your current situation
• your history and upbringing
• your relationships
• if you have any specific aims for therapy

Hopefully allowing you to feel a little clearer about what you’re looking for, or to have said out loud some things you may not have voiced before. And for us, it helps us to make the best therapist match possible for you.

If you’ve been in the last week or two you may have noticed the waiting room has had a bit of a refresh!

We had to close for a couple of days in April to get a brand spanking new boiler fitted, and took the opportunity to get to DIY-ing ✨

With the green and the fish paintings, I am now nicknaming this the pond room! We hope this can offer a place of calm for you before your sessions.

Don’t know where to start with therapy? That’s okay.

Whether it’s not knowing how to take that first step and arrange a first session, or what to bring once you’re there, starting can feel really difficult.

There’s no right or wrong place to start in therapy, or to end up for that matter! It’s unique to you, and your therapist is there to help you find your way with it.

Sometimes it’s more about just starting and seeing what happens. There’s nothing scarier than a blank page and all that!

“If a literal red flag once indicated that a particular military position would be defended to the death, what does it say about our willingness to die on a particular hill?”

Back in September last year we launched a series in the Therapeutic Thread called ‘the magic words of mental health’, where we dissect popular phrases from so called therapy speak and the pop psychology world.

The first of these instalments looked at red flags, and what we really mean when we say someone or something is red flag.

Any words or phrases you want us to do next? drop a comment!
