Dr David Garley joined on BBC Radio 4 Today Programme this morning to discuss new research exploring the association between insomnia and rising rates of cancer diagnoses in younger adults.
The study, presented at the American Society of Clinical Oncology, found an association between diagnosed insomnia and increased rates of certain cancers in adults aged 18–50.
During the interview, Dr Garley discussed the importance of interpreting the findings carefully, explaining that while the research shows an association, it does not prove that insomnia directly causes cancer.
One important reminder: if you’re struggling with sleep, please don’t panic. Sleep difficulties are common and treatable, and worrying more about sleep often makes insomnia worse.
