🌸 British Flowers Week 🌸

This week, we're celebrating British Flowers Week and the wonderful growers, and florists who cultivate beautiful blooms close to home.

At Divine Ceremony, we're proud to support local suppliers and encourage families to consider environmentally conscious choices when selecting funeral flowers. From seasonal, locally grown arrangements to creative floral tributes, there are many ways to honour a life while reducing the impact on our environment.

It's also worth thinking about what happens to flowers after the ceremony. Flowers can often be shared with family and friends, composted, or enjoyed in the home. Planting flowers or seeds in memory of someone can create a lasting tribute for years to come.

🌿 learn more about sustainable funeral flower choices, take a look at our latest blog, where we share some simple ideas for being kinder to the world around us. 🌿

We are Bristol funeral directors, whose aim is to support and empower families, friends and individuals to celebrate life, at the end of life, in whatever way they choose.

It's a welcoming space with drinks and cake and conversations about death. It's as simple as that.

Our next cafe is on Thursday, 11th June at 7pm - 9pm (come at 6.45 for cake!)

🫂 It’s — a reminder of how important it is to talk openly about death, dying and our final wishes.

Having these conversations with loved ones can bring comfort, clarity and reassurance when the time comes.

❓If you have questions about the dying process or what you may need to think about after someone has died, we’re always here for supportive, compassionate conversations.

Planning ahead can make a difficult time feel a little less overwhelming. ❤️

"Our aunt had already been recommended to see Dee at Divine Ceremony where she got the ball rolling herself on her final wishes. She was very pleased with their service and relaxed in her final weeks, confident that she would be looked after as she wished."

🌱 Planting a tree in memory of someone you've loved is a lovely way to honour their memory — watching it take root, grow, and change with the seasons feels like a living, breathing tribute.
Caring for both people and the planet is at the heart of everything we do at Divine Ceremony — so we were especially touched when one of our families gifted us some beautiful saplings. For years to come, we'll think of them as these little trees grow tall and blossom. 🌳
Every tree makes a difference. What a gift - in every sense of the word 💚

Matthew Bannister is marking twenty years of Radio 4’s Last Word by looking at how our attitudes to death, dying and the way we memorialise our dead have changed.
Episode 2, airing tomorrow, features a conversation with Dee about making funerals truly reflect the person they honour. Matthew joined Dee at a Bristol Ceremony for a keen forager where bark and foliage adorned the space and candles and photos of the man's life and family were the backdrop to his beautiful willow coffin.
Listen on Radio 4 at 13:45 or catch up on BBC Sounds.

Sofka Zinovieff is an author whose experience of not being present at her father's cremation led her on an exploration of the rituals surrounding death and why they are so important. She spoke to Dee, and others who are reimagining the way we see funerals, to learn about the importance of ceremony and ritual in marking someone's death, and the transformative impact it can have on us as we move forward.

💗We are aware that writing a review, especially for something that is so personal and emotional as a funeral, is a big thing to do. We are always grateful when people are able to share how they felt going through the process with us.
