How much physical activity should we actually be doing? πŸ€”

The NHS recommends that adults aim for 150 minutes of moderate activity a week. We know that sounds like a lot, but it breaks down to just over 20 minutes a day!

The best part? Every single minute counts.

Whether it's:
πŸšΆβ€β™€οΈ A brisk walk down the Bristol to Bath Railway Path
🚲 Cycling to work instead of taking the bus
πŸ›’ Carrying heavy shopping bags home from Stapleton Road
πŸ’ƒ A quick dance around the living room

Building activity into your daily routine is one of the best things you can do for your physical and mental health. The guidelines also recommend doing activities that build strength on at least two days a week.

Enjoying the Bristol sunshine this week? β˜€οΈ Remember that the UK sun can be strong enough to cause sunburn even when it's cloudy!

Protect your family's skin by:
🧴 Applying at least SPF 30 sunscreen with a 4 or 5-star UVA rating
πŸ‘’ Wearing wide-brimmed hats and sunglasses
🌳 Spending time in the shade when the sun is strongest (between 11am and 3pm)

Stay safe out there! For more advice on sun safety and treating sunburn, visit NHS.uk.

Today is World Hepatitis Day. Millions of people globally live with chronic Hepatitis B or C without knowing it, as it can silently damage the liver for years without causing obvious symptoms.

The good news? Hepatitis C can be easily cured with a simple course of tablets, and Hepatitis B can be effectively managed and prevented with a vaccine.

Screening is quick, confidential, and involves a simple blood test. If you have moved to the UK from a country where Hepatitis is more common, or have ever had a medical procedure or tattoo abroad, getting tested is a smart choice for your health.

Speak to us in total confidence to arrange a routine test.

β˜€οΈ Protecting your skin this summer!

Whether you are out at the local park or sitting in the garden, UV rays can cause skin damage even on cloudy days.

πŸ’‘ Health Myth Buster: Skin damage and melanoma can affect any skin tone. While darker skin has more natural melanin protection, it is still vulnerable to UV damage, and skin cancers in darker skin are often diagnosed later when they are harder to treat.

β€’ Apply SPF 30+ sunscreen daily.
β€’ Reapply every two hours, especially after sweating.
β€’ Protect your eyes with UV-rated sunglasses.
β€’ Seek shade between 11:00 AM and 3:00 PM.

Enjoy the summer safely! πŸ•ΆοΈ

If your child missed their 1st or 2nd dose, it is never too late to catch up. Give our reception team a call to check their records or book an appointment with our practice nurse.
