👻 as its Halloween this my my contribution.… this is a TRUE STORY 🎃

So you wait four weeks for a GP appointment to see them about you horrendous periods…

Only to be offered the pill within two minutes — no discussion, no explanation, just a quick fix to shut down your cycle.

If you’ve ever left that appointment feeling dismissed, confused, or like your body’s symptoms were brushed off — you’re not alone.

There are reasons behind hormonal symptoms like PMS, PMDD, acne or irregular cycles — and when we understand what your body’s trying to tell you, we can actually support balance rather than switch it off.

If you’re tired of being told “just go on the pill,” I’d love to help you uncover what’s really going on.

Nutritional changes can make a massive difference, and I’ve seen it time and time again.

One of my clients used to actually vomit every month with her period — and that completely stopped once we worked on her diet and hormone balance.

If you’d like to discuss what might help you, comment CALL below, and I’ll send you the link to book a free mini consultation.

When I first started out as a Nutritional Therapist, I made plenty of mistakes.

I wanted every client to feel better instantly. I wanted to prove that nutrition could change everything.

And in the process, I sometimes forgot that real progress happens slowly, with compassion and space to grow.

I gave clients too much to do at once — thinking I was being super helpful, when really I was overwhelming them. I got frustrated when people didn’t follow through, before I understood that consistency takes time and that behaviour change isn’t linear.

I talked more than I listened. I thought sharing more knowledge would motivate clients, but often, they just needed someone to hear them.

I was overly critical of the medical system, frustrated by how many women were dismissed or unheard — but I’ve since learned that collaboration helps more than criticism.

I undercharged, overdelivered, and ignored my own boundaries. I skipped over the emotional side of eating, forgetting that nutrition isn’t just about food — it’s about how we feel, cope, and connect.

I assumed everyone learned the way I do, forgetting that ADHD, fatigue, and life stress all change what’s realistic day-to-day.

Each “mistake” has made me a better, more grounded practitioner. I now see progress as gentle, cyclical, and unique to each person — just like our hormones.

Which one of these mistakes can you relate to most? 💬

If you feel like a completely different person before your period — you’re not imagining it.

For some, it’s PMS. For others, it’s PMDD, which can feel much more intense and emotional.

Both are linked to how your brain and body respond to normal hormone changes in the second half of your cycle — especially to shifts in progesterone and oestrogen.

The good news is, nutrition can make a big difference in supporting your hormones, mood, and nervous system — helping you feel more like you all month long. 🌿

If you’d like to start easing your PMS naturally, I’ve created a free 7-day PMS Starter Kit with simple food and lifestyle tips to help you get started.

Many women don’t realise that symptoms like anxiety, fatigue, low mood, or even changes in skin and libido can sometimes be linked to low oestrogen.

Oestrogen plays a big role in mood, memory, energy, and even how our body manages temperature and lubrication. When levels drop, you may notice shifts across your whole body.

If these symptoms feel familiar, it’s worth exploring whether hormone changes could be part of the picture. Nutritional and lifestyle support can make a big difference in how your body copes ✨

Many of my clients come to me saying, “My GP said my bloods are fine, but I still don’t feel right.”

That’s where functional testing can help. These tests go deeper, using narrower “optimal ranges” rather than just “normal ranges.”

Here are some of the tests I often use in my nutrition clinic:

🔹 DUTCH test – for hormones + stress response
🔹 Comprehensive stool analysis – for digestion + gut health
🔹 Vaginal microbiome testing – for recurrent BV, thrush, fertility
🔹 Advanced thyroid panel – full thyroid picture, not just TSH
🔹 Full iron panel – ferritin, transferrin + more

With the right testing, we can identify what’s really going on and create a tailored nutrition plan that works for you.

✨ Comment CALL below if you’d like to book a free chat to discuss testing options.

✨ Did you know the pill can deplete key nutrients?

Research shows that certain vitamins and minerals — including B6, B12, folate, zinc, magnesium and more — can become lower in the body when taking hormonal contraception.

This doesn’t mean the pill is “bad” but In my opinion as a nutritional therapist it’s way over prescribed.

What can help?

Eating a variety of colourful, nutrient-rich foods

Considering a good quality multivitamin (tailored to you)

Working with a nutritional therapist if you’d like personalised guidance

👉 Have you noticed changes in your wellbeing since starting the pill?

Changes to your energy, mood or stress tolerance ?

Comment below or send me a DM — I’d love to hear your experience.

I work with a lot of clients on post pill nutritional protocols. DM me to chat about this 😊
