☀️ Heatwave Awareness: Stay Safe in Hot Weather

During warmer weather, it is important to take extra care, especially when supporting older people, vulnerable adults and those who may find it difficult to recognise or communicate discomfort.

At Tempra Healthcare, we encourage everyone to stay alert and take simple steps to reduce the risk of dehydration, heat exhaustion and heat-related illness.

Please remember to:

✅ Encourage regular drinks throughout the day
✅ Keep rooms cool and well ventilated where possible
✅ Use shade, fans and cooler areas when needed
✅ Look out for dizziness, confusion, tiredness, dry mouth or reduced urine output
✅ Support people to wear light, comfortable clothing
✅ Report any concerns promptly
✅ Follow care plans, risk assessments and guidance

Small, consistent checks can make a big difference.

Tempra Healthcare is looking for a reliable, experienced and compassionate Team Leader to join our care team.

This is a part-time role, working 3 days per week, supporting the delivery of safe, high-quality and person-centred care.

As a Team Leader, you will help guide and support care staff, lead by example, promote dignity, independence and ensure our standards of care remain safe, compassionate and professional.

We are looking for someone who is:

✅ Confident supporting care staff
✅ Reliable, professional and organised
✅ Committed to person-centred care

Today marks Samaritans Awareness Day and International Self-Care Day — a reminder that kindness, listening and wellbeing matter every day.

💙 Person-Centred Support Starts with Listening

Every person with a learning disability or autism has their own strengths, preferences, communication style and support needs.

At Tempra Healthcare, we believe good care means:

✅ Listening to the individual
✅ Respecting their choices and independence
✅ Using their preferred communication method
✅ Making reasonable adjustments where needed
✅ Working in partnership with families and professionals

The person receiving support should always remain at the centre of every decision.

☀️ Stay Safe in the Heat

With temperatures rising, it is important to take extra care of yourself and those who may be more vulnerable.

💧 Drink plenty of water regularly
🏠 Keep rooms cool by closing curtains or blinds
🌳 Avoid direct sunlight between 11am and 3pm
👕 Wear light, loose-fitting clothing
🧴 Use sunscreen and wear a hat outdoors
📞 Check in on older people, neighbours and anyone living alone

Look out for signs of heat exhaustion, including dizziness, headaches, nausea, excessive sweating, cramps or confusion. Move the person somewhere cool, offer water and help cool their skin.

Call 999 if they do not improve within 30 minutes or show signs of heatstroke.

Please stay cool, hydrated and safe. 💙

Diabetes affects many people, including older adults and those receiving care at home. With the right support, routine and understanding, people living with diabetes can continue to live safely and confidently.

At Tempra Healthcare, we support individuals with daily care needs, medication prompts, meal support and wellbeing checks — helping people stay as independent as possible.

This week is a reminder that diabetes is nobody’s fault and compassionate support can make a real difference.
