With these extreme temperatures, people with neurological conditions can find their function significantly impaired.

Ideas to help you keep cool -
1. Get a tea towel soaking wet , wring it out and put in the fridge to cool and then place around the neck. You can buy cool towels online that you wet and place around the neck too.

2 pet stores sell cool mats for dogs to sit on - they also work for humans! Place between your back and the back or your chair or lie on them in bed.

What other ideas do you have?

A new 10 minute blood test for stroke is being introduced across London as part of a major pilot. The London Ambulance Service will pilot the test in 280 ambulances over the next six months, with paramedics carrying out the checks while patients are on the way to hospital.

The test, known as LVOne, measures biomarkers in the blood linked to clot formation and brain bleeds. It has shown around 95 percent accuracy in early studies.

If successful, the pilot could help expand the use of thrombectomy and improve outcomes for thousands of stroke patients each year.

Dr Robert Simister, a consultant neurologist at UCLH who is leading the pilot, said the approach could transform early stroke care.

“It’s an exciting time in pre hospital stroke care,” he said, adding that faster decisions could prevent patients being taken to “the wrong hospital”.
