An amber heat-health alert is in place across parts of England from today until 14 August.

During an amber alert, hot weather can put more people’s health at risk – not just those who are usually more vulnerable.

Older people, young children and people with existing health conditions may be particularly at risk.

Take extra care and look out for others who may struggle in the heat.

👻 Have you heard of a "Ghost Patient"?

NHS England and Primary Care Support England (PCSE) are carrying out a national exercise to help ensure GP practice lists are accurate and up to date.

If you haven't had any contact with your GP practice in the last 3 years, you may receive a letter, text message or email from NHS England or PCSE asking you to confirm your details. Your GP practice may also contact you as part of this process.

If you receive one of these messages, please don't ignore it. You will be unregistered if you do not confirm your details.

By responding, you'll help:
✅ Keep your GP registration active
✅ Confirm your current address and contact details
✅ Ensure you continue to receive important information about your healthcare

It only takes a few moments to respond, but it helps us keep our patient records accurate and makes sure we're able to contact you when needed.

Thank you for helping us keep your records up to date.

The pollen count is still high across the South West.

If you're suffering from hay fever, here are a few ways to help manage your symptoms:

✅ put petroleum jelly (such as Vaseline) around your nostrils to trap pollen
✅ wear wraparound sunglasses, a mask or a wide-brimmed hat to stop pollen getting into your nose and eyes
✅ shower and change your clothes after you have been outside to wash pollen off
✅ keep windows and doors shut as much as possible
✅ vacuum regularly and dust with a damp cloth
✅ try to use a pollen filter in the air vents of your car, if you have one, and a HEPA filter in your vacuum cleaner

A pharmacist can give you advice and suggest the best treatments to help with your hay fever symptoms, including antihistamine eye drops, tablets or nasal sprays, and steroid nasal sprays.
