Comment “up” for the FREE BLOG: 5 Things You Need to Know About Fascia and the link to the 300hr training starting with the Fascia in Focus Intensive.

Heres the science of this pose- because creative movement feels good because it does so much good :)

Fascia is full of sensory nerve endings. That makes it one of your body's richest sources of information about load, angle and stretch.
All of that travels through the peripheral nervous system, feeding a constant, mostly unconscious map of where you are and what feels safe to do.

When you move in the same lines every day, that signal becomes predictable. And a predictable signal is one the nervous system learns to stop noticing. Novelty makes it pay attention! So this new position, new way of loading and new sensation is brilliant!

There is growing thinking in pain science that this kind of fresh, non-threatening input is part of how we ease persistent discomfort and build comfortable, resilient movement over time.

When a movement feels stuck or sore, it is often the nervous system playing it safe with a body it has stopped getting good information from. Gentle, novel movement gives it something new and unthreatening to map, and that can be the start of things feeling easier.

This is not about releasing anything stuck. It is a way of making it possible to move better and breaking old habits gives better information to the nervous system that thrives on new neurla input.

Want to go deeper? My October training, Fascia in Focus, is the first intensive in the 300hr. On offer right now! Comment “up” for blog & course link.

Once we realise yoga asana is NOT flexibility training things get a lot better for the bendy lot & those who are not as flexible. We are all working on the common goal of- AWARENESS! Understanding ourselves and eaxh other better 💜

The theme for all these cues is: where is my body? In other words how to improve proprioception. Because this "6th sense" :

1️⃣ helps our nervous system feel safe = less anxiety
2️⃣ helps us move in all ways= better for fascia and joints
3️⃣ reduces exhaustion- more stability means we do not need so much energy with every movement

Stay tuned for more on fascia & hypermobility.

✨ 300hr teacher training ⬇️

There is a LOT more to this and hyper mobility is one of the main themes of the fascia intensive- which is our first 300hr training intensive this October.

Comment "path" for the link.

We have to be able to be free of the £25-35 an hour grind to survive. And we have to thrive to support our students better.

I am sharing 3 different paths I have identified, because we need to structure our work and marketing according to where we are, who we want to work with etc.

Come and discover your path and the exact steps to follow to earn well. So that you can teach yoga with real depth, and share this incredible tradition with love and compassion.

See you there! COMMENT "path" for the link.

With so much thanks to all my teachers across the years.

My first teacher at university. My first meditation teacher, the Zen master Thich Nhat Hanh, from the months I spent at Plum Village learning the mindfulness practices I still love and share today. My teachers in India, the sadhus, the mystics, the yogis.

So many teachers! Sharath Rangaswamy, Rudra Dev, Surinder Singh. My Hatha, Iyengar and Ashtanga teachers, including Joey Miles. Anna Ashby, who shaped how I hold restorative practice.

My somatics teachers, and my Vipassana teachers. My many yoga teacher friends who have guided me along the way melcooper Gladey Rowan Christine Gregory

And my students, who have taught me more than I could ever teach them and who go on doing so. They taught me how to teach. So too all the people I worked with in the community, including those with autism and Down's syndrome, who taught me about love, deep love.

Tomorrow I go to see friends I first met through my trainings, and I feel such gratitude for these many years as a teacher.

The idea of the guru is not so fashionable now, and I love this path of empowering others to believe in themselves. And yet there is nothing more wonderful than a teacher who looks on us with deep compassion, who shows us with such kindness the illusions we are holding, and who gently helps us lift the veil of ignorance.

And to all you Insta yogis and educators who inspire me, thank you too.

Sending love to you all, and honouring the paths we walk together. 💜💜💜

I am travelling tomorrow but will get the newsletter out too!

The maths in our industry is officially broken when it comes to classes. So you need a complete strategy...

In the early 2000s, a London studio slot paid £35. Today, most studios across the UK are STILL paying £35 a class.

Running around town trying to stack 15 low-paid slots a week isn't a business plan, it’s a fast track to burnout.

Studio classes are fantastic for meeting students and building trust. But they work best as your shop window, not your primary source of revenue.

Or you may not need classes at all!

Over my years running a physical studio and mentoring graduates, I developed 5 distinct business models that transform those studio slots into a sustainable £60k–£70k income on a 3-day teaching week.

1. The Village & Town Teacher (6-week pre-paid blocks + local workshops & day retreats)

2. The City Specialist (Offerings to meet one speciufic need)

3. The Online Authority (Targeted condition-based courses- solve a problem)

4. The Event + Retreat Earner (High-margin experiences)

5. The Corporate Guru (or specific location e.g. schools)

Each of these has very different and specific business and marketing model so get clear on what you offer.

I will be sharing more on this soon and am putting together a freebie for you. It is the system i share in my 300 hr training. So Stay tuned!

We need to support independent teachers and specifically women. I am SO here for it.

Science shows that instant flexibility isn’t about forcing your muscles to stretch. It happens because your brain drops its guard increasing your stretch tolerance. Plus some more fascia pliability!

Here is exactly how this movement works to release thw hammies:
1️⃣ Building Brain Trust: Balancing on your tiptoes while squeezing your back muscles sends a rush of data to your brain. By proving you are strong and stable in this position, your nervous system feels safe. It instantly lets go of the tight "guarding" holding your hamstrings back.

2️⃣ Fascial Glide: Fascia is the web of tissue wrapping your muscles, organs etc throughout the body, and it is packed with nerve endings. Moving from tiptoes into a fold signals this tissue to release overall tension. By moving from head to foot you signal to the whole chain of fascia in the back of the body.

❌ What it isn't: This is not reciprocal inhibition. Old textbooks claimed squeezing your quads automatically "turned off" your hamstrings. Modern research proved this wrong. Your body actually tightens both sides of a joint to protect you from injury.
True flexibility is a conversation between science, creativity, and your nervous system.
