Is price the biggest consideration when it comes to buying frames, or is value just as important?

It's not the most exciting question, granted, but it is one that you should ask yourself when you're buying your next pair of specs.

So, yeah, if you thought the step up might be a problem after the nice flat entrance in the old place, then it's not really!

I do need a couple of minutes to get it ready and as I don't get to put it out very often I'll probably get confused and put it out upside down (as I did this morning!), but I'll get there eventually and then you can come in quite easily and get your test and glasses sorted out!

Won't be open tomorrow (July 29th) as I have some things at home that need to be fixed by cleverer people than me and that's the only day I could link it all up. I'll forward the phones to my mobile though.

We know I'm a bit of a woke lefty, I'm not shy in talking about politics, and the jury is out on Andy Burnham for now on most things, except one.

He has bloody excellent taste in glasses!

Artie is the frame. I'll have a more colourful version on the shelf, so if you want to emulate him and constantly talk about Football and Elbow and Manchester you can!

On reflection, they don't look all that bad... Bit small though!

Advice! That's what we're doing here, trying to advise you on the right frame for your face and your lenses. Getting you to a point where you're confident with your glasses, as you should be!

It's nice to have so many nice frames that a lot of you struggle to choose just one you like, so the 😇 on my shoulder has been whispering to me...

It's always a good idea to have a backup pair or some prescription sunglasses or maybe some specs that are more tailored to a certain task.

Back from holiday to find some new faces around the place...

Two very interesting things from another Mark, this one from

The faces are amazing! A really eye-catching way to display specs but the really interesting thing here is the frame.

3d printed in Bedminster from corn starch, meaning they are completely biodegradable. They look great and feel really nice to wear.

So, today marks the end of another chapter in Bramley Pope's very nearly 28 year history.

After 6 years with us, Heather is calling it a day on her optical career and retiring!

I know she he is held in very high esteem by a lot of you and I can assure you I have searched high and low to find people who can fill her (very hard to fill) shoes and over the next couple of months there will be some new faces in the test room while I find the right person to look after you all.

I'm sure you'll all join me in wishing her well in her ridiculously early retirement and will miss having her around the place as much as I will.

Thank you Heather. We've had our ups and downs but you have been invaluable to me in the time we've worked together and I'll miss working with you.

The picture is just a placeholder until I can cajole her into letting me a picture of her there!
