We get a lot of questions about discharge...

✨ Is it normal?
✨ Should it smell?
✨ What does it look like?
✨ Why do we get it?

Discharge is absolutely normal if you have a v***a, but if you notice an unusual change in the colour, consistency or smell, that's when it might not be normal. And if you have a p***s, discharge might be a sign of infection. Any sort of change that causes you concern should be checked out by your GP or s*xual health clinic.

In case you missed it, the implant (also known as Nexplanon) is now licensed for up to 5 years in the UK, a big and exciting change for this contraception!

If you already have an implant, you may not need to have it replaced at 3 years anymore and you will instead be covered for 5 years. If you’re unsure about whether you’re covered or not, contact your GP or s*xual health clinic.

A couple of weeks ago, the government unveiled the renewed Womens Health Strategy and among many of the talking points was effectinve and appropriate pain relief for gynaecological procedures. One such procedure is IUD and IUS fittings.

At present, it's advisable to take paracetamol or ibuprofen an hour before the procedure to help with any discomfort but it will soon be the case that local anaesthetic will be widely available too.

If you are concerned about discomfort or pain during at IUS or coil fitting, it's important to speak to your doctor or nurse to explore options that will make you feel most comfortable. And remember: everyone experiences discomfort and pain differently! You don't have to have any pain relief if you don't want to, but the option should be there if you do.

For more information about the coil and IUS, head to our website.

You might have heard more about bacterial vaginosis (BV) recently as it's been debated whether it should be classified as an STI or not.

Although you don't have to have s*x to get bacterial vaginosis, having s*x can increase your chances of getting it as there is an increased risk to disruption of your pH levels.

If you are concerned you might have BV, it's best to go to your GP or to a s*xual health clinic where they can support you with quick, free and easy treatment, usually a course of antibiotics.

Pans*xual Awareness Day is a great time to reflect on the fact that pans*xuality is nothing new! Throughout history, attraction to one another regardless of our gender has always been a thing, it's just the evolution of language that has now given us a way to label that attraction.

Yuno will always be a safe and welcoming space for the LGBT+ community.

We’re here to support you in looking after your s*xual health and wellbeing. We offer free, confidential, inclusive and non-judgmental services both in person and online via our clinically supported website. 💖

Have you ever heard of a dental dam?

They are famously used by dentists for dental procedures, but they are also a really useful for preventing the transmission of STIs during certain types of oral s*x.

You can contract STIs like Chlamydia, Gonorrhoea, Herpes, Syphilis and HIV so it's really important to use protection when having oral s*x. If oral s*x involves the a**s or v***a, dental dams are great, and if it involves a p***s, flavoured condoms are perfect.

Struggling to get hold of dental dams? Just grab a condom, cut along the long side of the condom and unroll into a makeshift dam!

Yes, you can catch an STI if you are having s*x with someone who has the same ge****ls as you!

STIs can pass on through unprotected oral s*x, your ge****ls coming into contact with your partners ge***al and sharing s*x toys that haven't been cleaned or covered with a new condom between uses.

What other rumours have you heard about s*x that you suspect aren't true? Let us know in the comments ⬇️
