Here's Katriona and Camilla with huge smiles as Camilla is adjusted regularly to prepare for her Ultra Marathon starting on 2nd October- the three day Atlantic Coast Challenge. Camilla will run a marathon a day for 3 days from Padstow to Lands End - a total of 78.6miles! What an incredible inspiration you are Camilla!

WHAT DOES THE TAPE DO?
Our Chiropractors often use taping as an additional way to help you heal. Many of you ask why we use it. Here are a few reasons:

1. The main reason we use it is to stimulate the brain. The stretchy tape activates skin receptors (that communicate with the nervous system) and also proprioceptors (that tell the brain how and where the body is moving) which feed the brain with constant input. This hyper-activation of the taping helps the brain and nervous system to co-ordinate optimally with increased activity and control in the area.
2. It can also 'trick' the brain. Stimulation from the tape from the little receptors to the nerves can help override the brain 'listening' to pain. This 'tricks' the brain into feeling less pain resulting in relaxation of muscles and inflammation and promotion of healing. This same mechanism is used for when we bang our toes and rub the area or why we often stroke the skin if a child has hurt themselves.
3. It can help improve the circulation and lymph drainage in the area therefore reducing swelling and promoting healing

Good luck to all the kids, parents, teachers and school staff going back to school this week. While it can be sad saying goodbye to summer fun, it's time to welcome back routine and school term antics. Our Chiropractor's have kids that are starting secondary school, starting sixth form and one has passed her A-levels with flying colours and is having an exciting year out before going to University.
We hope all the school uniform fits and those schoolbags aren't packed too full!
